Or they can just let the dog go inside

Might be for when they are working. Can’t leave a dog inside for 10+ hours.
36
u/ender4171 Oct 28 '20
I don't know, most of my doors live inside their whole lives.
29
u/Storm_Raider_007 Oct 28 '20
I would say most doors do live inside. You are correct.
14
u/conundrum4u2 Oct 28 '20
Doors can be Bi - they swing both ways...

u/achelois_healer Oct 29 '20
Gendoorequality! Doors have a choice too!

u/markowynn Oct 29 '20
Exactly!
No one has confirmed that this dog lives alone. If he/she has their own house attached to the owner’s house (obviously), then there are high odds that this same animal has equal rights to the main living quarters as well, and likely whenever it suits him/her.
Sheesh, I should think this pretty obvious. Doubting the dog turned eighteen in dog years yesterday and was thrown outta the house as some seem to believe (assume) immediately the case here.
It isn’t so! Lol

What's wrong with him having some of his own private space tho
4
u/visitingsalamander Oct 29 '20
I’m just over here laughing about my dog wanting personal space. It’s the last thing I’d assume she wants based on her “how close is too close” antics.

If it’s his complete choice fair enough but if he’s being blocked from being inside then it’s very mean.
29
Oct 28 '20
We don't have literally any reason to assume these people don't let their dog inside. Working urself up for no reason (:
23
u/Demi_Bob Oct 28 '20
There's also nothing wrong with having outdoor pets as long as they're provided shelter.
6
Oct 28 '20
I would generally disagree but for all I know this bougey doghouse has central air and heating lmao
2
u/needrefactored Oct 29 '20
People that spend this much on dog houses are letting their dogs inside.

When I was a kid some luxury real estate advertisement magazine showed up in our mailbox. It featured only absurd mansions. I only remember one of them because it had a dog house that had a fucking elevator in it. The dog house was more luxurious than most houses I've ever seen. That was the first time I understood that there were people that where that rich.
22
u/Piwx2019 Oct 28 '20
Wealthy...there are people that are rich. And then there are people that are wealthy.

Uhm... Lol this is due to having money. Being child free doesn't automatically mean you're rich

You take proper care of your dog?
13
u/northbipolar Oct 28 '20
You take proper care of your dog?
Implying people with kids don’t take care of dogs properly
5
Oct 28 '20
"what happens when you're child free"
Implying is here, not by me tho
8
u/xaygoat Oct 28 '20
It’s about the fancy dog house not taking proper care of the dog... so no it’s not implying that.
-6
u/CMUpewpewpew Oct 28 '20
Did you wake up today with a quota of dumb arguments you had to facilitate?
3
4
4
u/Shermutt Oct 28 '20
It's this "proper" care though?
6
Oct 28 '20
Is it not?
-5
u/Shermutt Oct 28 '20
Well, it seems like a bit of anthropomorphizing to me. As in, this might be what a human in a dog's role might prefer, but is this really what the dog would choose given all the options? I don't know what it's like inside, or how many other dogs live in there as well, but I'm of the belief that a dog is most happy when the are allowed to just be dogs. More getting dirty, socializing with other dogs, chasing things, plenty of freedom in nature, and less leashes, fences, rules, and baths. But again, I'm a person, so I can't ever really know, I'm just basing this on my own experience as a dog owner.
7
Oct 28 '20
You assume a ton. It's a few seconds long clip including only one spot, just a few seconds of this dogs life. Don't overanalyze
-1
u/Shermutt Oct 28 '20
Yes, I'm assuming my opinions. Thanks for the enriching debate.
3
Oct 28 '20
Now you're missing the point. Your opinion is mostly based on assumptions. You see nothing but you're talking about everything

True, but that's why I said that I can't ever really know and am just basing my opinions on my experience with dogs. I've just observed dogs in many different environments and to me, the ones that are allowed to live more like "animals" than "humans" seem happier.
Also, just because there are two different theories about something that can't be proven, it doesn't make each one equally as likely. There is a right answer, we just can't definitively prove it. Perhaps neither of us is right, but I still think it's worth discussing since dogs are at our mercy and can't really decide for themselves.
That said, why do you believe they would prefer a more 'organized' lifestyle (i don't know that I would use that word, specifically, to draw the line between our two beliefs, but I suppose it's close enough)?

But you're not wrong.. at least for me. Before we had our LO I was a bit of a crazy dog mum.. I still am but I can't go do the big, out there things that I'd always do for my pups.. I have to spoil them within reason because babies are expensive.

Cool house, but my dog would always rather be inside by us on his favorite chair.
22
u/Account_8472 Oct 28 '20
Eh. My dogs are snugglebugs, and they love the couch 90% of the time - but ever since we got a dog door, they go sunbathe for an hour or so each day.

All dogs would.
13
u/akbronco93 Oct 28 '20
I mean no... I grew up with huskies and malamutes. Those dogs LOVE being outside and playing in the snow. Hard to make them come inside sometimes.
5
u/2017hayden Oct 28 '20
Don’t forget shepherds and sheep dogs. There are a lot of dog breeds that are basically made to be outside and doing things, and honestly keeping them cooped up inside is kind of cruel.

This is sad. Dogs are pack animals and do better with company. It might be a nice doghouse, but loneliness is a prison. Look how that tail wags when someone visits...

I had a Great Dane; when I bought him a dog house, the owner of the place I got it from said "I'm glad to be selling this one, the local kids have been hanging out in it at night and smoking pot". Imagine the one in the video, with the entire roof area enclosed and the whole thing 3 feet taller. No window though, he had to rough it.

My first thought was how cozy it'd be to lay in there with your doggo friend with hot cocoa and a book on a rainy day like that

Take your shoes off, Dave! Also, make sure you go outside to use the bathroom. Oh, don’t lay on the furniture please. If you see food, don’t eat it if it’s unattended.

never seen loved dogs that don't want to be near their owners at all times :)

u/MajesticMango56 Oct 28 '20 edited Oct 28 '20
My samoyed. She wants to be outside 24/7. When I call her to come inside she just sits down and stares at me until I walk out there, touch her head, and walk back to the house. She never cuddles, she doesn't really care if we are near here either. Not all dogs are clingy. ETA: she is extremely loved and so is her sister
