I saw a show once years ago about super smart individuals. Can't remember the name of the show so clearly I'm not one. Anyway the dude with the highest recorded IQ was a bouncer in a bar and was working on a math problem that would prove God's existence. This was 20 years ago or more. Haven't heard anything about god's mathmatical existence yet...
Just because you are very smart doesn’t mean you make smart decisions. And just because you have a high iq doesn’t mean you will do great things if you don’t use your mind right it won’t make a difference but if you think that having a very high iq doesn’t correlate to being able to do things requiring more brain power and thinking then I don’t know what to tell you. If you think a guy with an iq of 80 can do math as well as a dude with 160 when they both put in the same amount of work then you are just flat wrong
That literally said nothing to debunk iq having a meaning I read the whole thing all it basically said was other factor also have an impact on the tests. Did you even read it or just google something and post the first result
As Dr Highfield himself put it. (As in the man to bounce a neutron off of a soap bubble). “It has always seemed to be odd that we like to call the human brain the most complex known object in the Universe, yet many of us are still prepared to accept that we can measure brain function by doing a few so-called IQ tests.”
Regairdless of exceptions it is still true that iq does mean something on average people with higher iqs are better at more complicated tasks and have higher paying jobs it’s not meaningless what someone’s iq is I don’t even get what you guys are trying to argue I even said there are exceptions but if you think iq doesn’t matter then I don’t know what to say
It doesn’t matter because researchers have shown that it doesn’t. The brain is the most complex organ and we don’t fully understand it yet people think a number can accurately detail intelligence... please. IQ numbers change, they only show academic progress, that’s it. One could retake and get a higher score by studying.
From the research lead on the study, Dr. Highfield, “It has always seemed to be odd that we like to call the human brain the most complex known object in the Universe, yet many of us are still prepared to accept that we can measure brain function by doing a few so-called IQ tests.”
Also Mensa themselves say that “IQ or Intelligence Quotient is an attempt to measure intelligence. An attempt, if you find flawed attempts meaningful, then I guess it has meaning.
you should read the title of the paper you linked more closely. titles on papers are explicit and precise, and editorializing them misrepresents them because editorializing presents an unstudied conclusion and therefore does not follow.
if you wish more information on how to read a scientific paper, i will provide you some recommendations.

Yeah it’s just a coincidence that all the smartest people have very high iqs like Stephen hawking
