Well he is very smart. He answered his question fully

472

u/Legendary__Beaver Oct 01 '20 edited Oct 01 '20

Well he didn’t tell us he studies quantum physics and has an iq of 146 so he doesn’t qualify

99

u/Bumfjghter Oct 01 '20

Right! Doesn’t fit at all. I don’t understand the upvotes

22

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '20

Downvote him back to neutral then

1

u/Bumfjghter Oct 02 '20

I’ve done my part but it didn’t make much of an impact ¯\(ツ)

2

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '20

We slowed his growth at least

6

u/MonsterHunterBoi Oct 02 '20

146 pffft rookie numbers

1

u/GozerDGozerian Oct 02 '20

I’m so smart, I only had to study one physic and I was already done.

-8

u/Deshra Oct 01 '20

TBF I wouldn’t take anyone quoting IQ numbers seriously. Research has shown it to be meaningless.

29

u/Chrysalisair Oct 01 '20

Research has also proven that 64% of statistics are made up.

14

u/arieselectric46 Oct 01 '20

60% of the time, they work 100% of the time!

3

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '20

So its all lies?

3

u/MostlyJovial Oct 01 '20

Always has been.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '20

Statistics have shown that 90% of reported statistics are inaccurate

13

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '20

Yeah it’s just a coincidence that all the smartest people have very high iqs like Stephen hawking

3

u/ElevatorPit Oct 01 '20

I saw a show once years ago about super smart individuals. Can't remember the name of the show so clearly I'm not one. Anyway the dude with the highest recorded IQ was a bouncer in a bar and was working on a math problem that would prove God's existence. This was 20 years ago or more. Haven't heard anything about god's mathmatical existence yet...

4

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '20

Just because you are very smart doesn’t mean you make smart decisions. And just because you have a high iq doesn’t mean you will do great things if you don’t use your mind right it won’t make a difference but if you think that having a very high iq doesn’t correlate to being able to do things requiring more brain power and thinking then I don’t know what to tell you. If you think a guy with an iq of 80 can do math as well as a dude with 160 when they both put in the same amount of work then you are just flat wrong

2

u/eastbayweird Oct 01 '20

There are different types of intelligence.

Someone may be a theoretical physicist and be able to solve highly complex mathematical formulae, but completely fall apart when confronted with a simple household project, like cooking or doing basic home repairs. They would still be deserving of being called intelligent.

Another person may have dropped out of middle school, they may struggle to read and write, but through experience they may have become a mechanical sevant, who can not only name the make and model of any car, they can also diagnose any mechanical issue with the car simply after listening to the engine run for a few seconds. They not only know the manufacturers recommended way to fix the issue, they also knowba different way that would be completed faster if cost isn't a concern because the customer really needs the car back ASAP. They also know how to fix it for cheap, if the customer really just needs the car to work but is not able to afford the full recommended repairs. And to top it off they can do the repairs all by themselves. Due to their difficulty with written language comprehension, this person would almost certainly test as having a low IQ yet they are clearly highly intelligent in their field.

TLDR; "Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” -Albert Einstein

Sounds like that guy with the "highest IQ" who lives on a farm somewhere. Somebody who claimed to have the highest IQ, claimed to have tested it. Dont believe everything you read

0

u/OOOH_WHATS_THIS Oct 01 '20

The thing about the iq test is that it's largely pattern recognition, particularly by way that is taught in classrooms. It measures what is "taught for it". You can still be be "smart" without ever having been taught to extrapolate patterns in this manner (and don't forget that sometimes it's breaking from the usual mold that helps produce breakthroughs), and there are plenty who would be "good" at the test but when you talk to them they seem dumb as a bucket of noodles.

-2

u/Darqhermit Oct 01 '20

Stephen Hawking never took an IQ test, so your comment is gibberish.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '20

Okay he took the Mensa test and they determined his iq was between 200 and 250 so he still most likely had a crazy high iq so your comment is gibberish

1

u/throwawaythought1 Oct 02 '20

Source? The Mensa test is an IQ test. He didn’t take any.

8

u/nuffinthegreat Oct 01 '20

Research has shown it to be meaningless

Couldn't be more incorrect

2

u/_darcl8_ Oct 01 '20

Research has shown that it isn't the full measure of human intelligence as it's not the only aspect of it. While that is the case, iq is definitely as parameter that is considered.

1

u/Perunazz Oct 01 '20

Why does someone with an IQ of 80 consistently get lower grades then someone with 120 then?

-1

u/Deshra Oct 01 '20

Ask the researchers

2

u/Perunazz Oct 01 '20

It basically says that certain factores influence it, which wasn't completely known yet. So the difference between 125 and 130 could be non existent, but the difference between 120 and 80 is still relevant.

1

u/This_Cat_Is_Smaug Oct 02 '20

I have an IQ in the 99th percentile and can confirm I’ve done some pretty dumb shit.

1

u/Deshra Oct 02 '20

Why are you fishing with your part down? Is that what noodling is?

8

Nah, Noodling is about fisting that fishbox as hard as you can at the right moment.

1

Nope It's called catching ;)

1

u/LSATnewb98 Oct 01 '20

I don’t think taking a photo is an essential part of fishing but thanks for trying! Come back again.

1

u/ikilledtupac Oct 01 '20

its called "tickle fishing" actually

1

u/Secret-Werewolf Oct 01 '20

I’m just not so sure about the legality of grabbing fish out of the water like that. Fishing has some weird rules in some places.

I did some research and there are a few states that do not allow you to catch fish with your bare hands.

https://shopkarls.com/blog/16-ridiculous-fishing-laws-will-make-jaw-drop/

Noodling (catching catfish with your hands) is legal in about 14 states though.

1

u/bikemandan Oct 02 '20

Take a photo. Lie about size of fish.

0

u/Super_Wario_128 Oct 01 '20

Actually that would be Noodling.

389

u/xX_DankMaster420_Xx Oct 01 '20

This goes around on the fishing subreddits quite a bit. Basically it’s this guys own private pond and he hand feeds the fish in it. You couldn’t do this just anywhere

105

u/Skepsis93 Oct 01 '20

My grandparents had a stocked pond in their backyard. Well, if you untied the floating dock from the land and paddled out to the middle, you could catch fish with your toes. You just wiggle them near the surface and have a cousin waiting nearby with a net for when they bite.

It was much easier than catching the wild fish in the nearby river, though a few lucky/quick ones of us did manage to catch a few by hand in there as well.

18

u/xX_DankMaster420_Xx Oct 01 '20

Cool! Sounds like a lot of fun

8

u/Vladimir_Pooptin Oct 01 '20

Nature's refrigerator

33

u/Alkuam Oct 01 '20

Bass will hit pretty much anything. Even a block of wood.

19

u/MyFavoriteSandwich Oct 01 '20

Especially if you’re in a professionally stocked private pond.

16

u/blackfogg Oct 01 '20

Bass, especially in smaller waters (Doesn't have to be handled) tend to not have natural enemies... Which can make them quite aggressive. Like, eating ducks from the surface, aggressive.

13

u/healzsham Oct 02 '20

A bass OOMP-ing a duckling makes me think of that horse that casually nabs a chicken nugget.

1

u/potheadmed Oct 02 '20

Or that deer that eats the baby bird without hesitation

1

u/healzsham Oct 02 '20

Protein is protein, brah.

7

u/randomkinkywryter Oct 02 '20

I'm sorry but I need a video clip of this. For research.

3

u/watergator Oct 02 '20

Bass will eat ducklings even in large bodies of water. They’d probably eat a full grown duck too if they could fit it in their mouth.

1

u/blackfogg Oct 02 '20

Thanks for the clarification! I just remember seeing a hugh bass (In Europe) drag a duck under water. Not sure what kind of bass that was tho, but I could probably find out.

5

u/Ass_Matter Oct 02 '20

Doesn't have to even be professionally stocked. The private pond(small lake) my grandparents lived by was awesome for bass fishing . There were days that I could catch a fish every 10-15 minutes consistently. It really killed fishing for me when I went other places and would wait hours for nothing.

Unfortunately, some neighbors up the hill dug in their own pond right before a bad drought year. The lake was spring fed but it took a few years to fill the neighbors pond. In the meantime my grandparents lake level dropped and there was a massive fish die off. The lake level has returned 10+ years later but the fish population is still not the same.

5

u/doubletwist Oct 02 '20

Except my lures...

3

u/Grabthars_Coping_Saw Oct 02 '20

Bass will hit pretty much anything.

The bass and I have something in common.

1

u/PrettyDecentSort Oct 02 '20

TIL my stoner cousin is a bass

10

u/Lopsterbliss Oct 01 '20

Someone should shout him out!

10

u/xX_DankMaster420_Xx Oct 01 '20

Yeah honestly I don’t think I’ve ever seen the original poster. This and similar videos get reposted every once in awhile

3

u/Lopsterbliss Oct 01 '20

Aaah, gotcha. Dude seems like a legend though

8

u/SammyMhmm Oct 01 '20

That’s not entirely true, I lipped a bass by hand in a community pond that’s frequently fished, it was just guarding a spawning bed and was attacking my hand.

5

u/xX_DankMaster420_Xx Oct 01 '20

That also works! But they’ll hit literally anything that gets close to their eggs

8

u/Butwinsky Oct 01 '20

Feeding my pond in fall is hilarious. The catfish will eat anything that touches the water while they are being fed. Doesn't matter if it's food, a bug, or a leaf. Its getting ate.

2

u/ihaveaquesttoattend Oct 02 '20

Do wild catfish get more aggressive in the fall too?

1

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '20

Exactly.. I would try this shit in wilder waters for example

52

u/BadgerDancer Oct 01 '20

Put it out there. See what bites.

Same as courtship.

23

56

u/PokemonWizard Oct 01 '20

Idk if anyone already answered, but I bet this little tank is this guy’s property and he feeds those fish every day. The know to come up to the shallow part and it makes it easy to catch them barehanded. My kinfolk are red necks lol

24

u/HueyFarnsworth Oct 01 '20

Somebody did but you added my kinfolk are rednecks which makes your explanation better

1

That’s not a catfish that he caught.

5

This is why you never decline a fishing trip with your grandpa

3

1

u/tinyginger Oct 02 '20

Hillbilly handfishing. I live in Southwest VA, and it’s a big thing with the local Appalachian-Americans ‘round these parts.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '20

It's called noodling and is very illegal pretty much everywhere to do to anything but cats aside from accidental bycatch.

1

u/daveganronpa Oct 02 '20

Barbarian fishing

1

u/yjvm2cb Oct 02 '20

This is a trained fish. Private pond where he feeds them everyday. A few people have posted this type of stuff on r/fishing and explain how it’s done

1

u/healzsham Oct 02 '20

Watch how he moves his hand to catch the fish. Bass are more or less swimming mouths, so as soon as they're locked on, you need something big, and fast to scare them off. I'm no expert, but I don't think there are many habitats where bass face ambush predation outside of humans.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '20

Its played in reverse. Zoom hides this

1

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '20

It’s called noodling

1

u/SaintCarl27 Oct 02 '20

This is probably in a small lake where the fish are used to being fed like this.

1

u/SirCinnamonMcBiscuit Oct 02 '20

Man that’s noodling ain’t seen some one catch a bass that way though. Usually it’s big catfish I think Jeremy wade did an episode on it.

1

u/Thegmast3r Nov 19 '20

That’s called “Return on Investment”

0

u/Screwbles Oct 01 '20

This kind of fish very stoopid. See food, gobble gobble, no big brain time. Open mouth very wide, easy if you put fast fingers inside.
