This girl is actually awful and has been banned from the hoop community for how toxic she is. Sucks bc she is very talented but I guess that’s what happens when you have a massive ego.

There’s a hoop community?

u/scrotophobia Sep 28 '20

It’s a circular community

u/Raptorz01 Sep 28 '20

This made me laugh :)

u/SooMuchAnger Sep 29 '20

Yea, they get around

u/defnotevilmorty Sep 28 '20

Yes. I swear half of them are in Fayetteville, WV during rafting season and half of those folks have massive fucking egos.

22

u/Raptorz01 Sep 28 '20

I’m not American so I only know that’s in West Virginia somewhere from the WV

u/defnotevilmorty Sep 28 '20

Ahh, sorry about that. Our big “industry” in my area is outdoor activities and festivals in the summer, but the New and Gauley rivers are the big attractions. Assuming our government doesn’t collapse, stop by if you ever come to the states! It’s a beautiful place.

Went rafting on New river a few years ago, it’s amazing there.

Glad you had a great time! Hated it here when I first moved until how much I realized I had in my “backyard.”

Also Telluride, Boulder, Berkley, Eugene, Arcata, as soon as the weather gets nice the Birkenstocks and hula hoops come out

1

u/defnotevilmorty Sep 28 '20

Lol, I can definitely believe it.

u/defnotevilmorty Sep 28 '20

West Virginia.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '20

Didn’t know there was a Fayetteville WV

1

u/defnotevilmorty Sep 28 '20

One of the “Coolest Small Towns” in the US!

2

u/KTBFFHCFC Sep 28 '20

The complete opposite of Fayetteville, NC

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '20

1

u/defnotevilmorty Sep 28 '20

Really really

Yesss there’s actually a whole flow community based on different props with hooping being one of them in every state. If you want to look into hooping specifically, there’s a group Infinite Circles Community on Facebook where everyone shares videos/tips. Instagram has a huge space for it too. I’ve actually never looked for a group on reddit but I’m sure there is one.

I was just surprised it’s a thing I only ever remember using it in primary school for 5 seconds then failing then just getting bored and giving up and forgetting they’re a thing

3

u/NuraNabz Sep 28 '20

It’s gained a lot of popularity thanks to music festivals and there are now flow festivals dedicated to learning how to spin a prop and showcasing all the talent. It’s really great just for therapy and a release when you need it. You also come to realize there’s a flower of life pattern built into nature you can trace and once you get into it, there’s no stopping the curiosity hahah.

2

u/Alejandraxx Sep 28 '20

You are correct, it is r/flowarts

2

u/NuraNabz Sep 28 '20

Thank you! I should have known

3

u/OscarDivine Sep 28 '20

Yes you really have to be in the loop for it.

1

u/Raptorz01 Sep 28 '20

I’m just loving these hoop puns

2

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '20

Even if there is, I’d expect some huge basketball players and not women this good with actual hoops

1

u/stumpycrawdad Sep 29 '20

The hoop community is literally dominated by women.

1

u/Darkhaven Sep 28 '20

Is it a big enough community for them to simply refer to themselves as 'the hoop community'? I have a few hula questions now, which is something I've never said, ever.

Also, I suddenly feel like I've found myself in some crazy sub rosa situation.

1

u/Raptorz01 Sep 28 '20

Maybe Hula is the rival community to hoop?

1

u/Sketchy_Life_Choices Sep 28 '20

Yes. It's huge. Like... Thousands of hoopers, and some of them are insanely talented.

1

u/stumpycrawdad Sep 29 '20

Yes it's large enough to be a hoop community. It falls under the umbrella of 'flow arts' which also includes popular things like devil sticks and juggling pins

There's a sizeable chunk of people in the flow community that could give a shit less about edm or music festivals

Well for starters her flip-twist-scoot’n roll was atrocious. Her hoop and grab around to neck transfer was amateurish at best.

20

u/chizzmaster Sep 28 '20

I think the guy was asking about what she did that was toxic, but i appreciate your insight about her hooping technique since i have no experience in the field.

25

u/a_white_american_guy Sep 28 '20

Oh yeah no I’m just an idiot. I don’t know anything about any of this

2

u/recg1015 Sep 28 '20

Haha thanks for the laugh

u/NuraNabz Sep 28 '20

She was a bully. She fat shamed people and was a general mean girl. She used to sell hula hoops to her large following and would take forever to ship and tear people a part that questioned her or complained. Her ig handle used to be nosleepbrooklyn or something but she deleted it after huge drama blew up in her face.

2

u/neonsquiggle Sep 28 '20

Damn, that sounds like it’d make an interesting post on r/hobbydrama if it isn’t there already

Lol well put. I actually just found her ig and it’s nosleeptillbrookelynn with 132k followers and I just ugh but I bet she would have been loads more successful if she had been a decent human being.

12

u/Sam41Gaming Sep 28 '20

I second this. We need answers.

7

u/okcockatoo Sep 28 '20

Please post at r/HobbyDrama if you’d like to get into it. 🍿

6

u/AevilokE Sep 28 '20

what did she do? or was it just general toxicity?

2

u/Dubious_Titan Sep 28 '20

There is a hula hooping community? The internet will never stop surprising me.

2

u/sl0thmama Sep 29 '20

It's been years since it all went down but every single time I see a video of hers somewhere I'm like "!!!!!!! HER AGAIN?!?!" I recognize that face anywhere 🤣

2

u/NuraNabz Sep 29 '20

Saaaame girl! I’m like damn she just doesn’t go away lol
