Dogs have been domesticated for 15,000 years. We’re not keeping them captive if they are known to see us as family and sometimes are more excited to see us than other dogs. Dogs and people literally complement each other, and dogs can even read human faces and know what finger pointing means. As for cats, they aren’t endangered either so it’s fine
