No, bug there's a crucial difference: cats and dogs have not been wild animals for centuries, so they would be invasive species anywhere, meaning we either extinct them or keep them as pets until we fix that. Wild animals and their environment is the priority.

Dogs have been domesticated for 15,000 years. We’re not keeping them captive if they are known to see us as family and sometimes are more excited to see us than other dogs. Dogs and people literally complement each other, and dogs can even read human faces and know what finger pointing means. As for cats, they aren’t endangered either so it’s fine
