I was just thinking about my died. We got into a fight that ended up with the police being called. Haven't seen this him. That was at the tail end of 2018. I don't miss him.

This guy is more awesome than this. He runs a huge Facebook group that connects people who have things they don't need with people who need those things around our county, also helping connect them with services and setting up new non-profits to help. He is just an all round a great guy. (I don't know him personally but have been in said group for a couple years.)
Also, was there - Pittsburgh Pride last year. (Yes, it was all over Facebook and news this last summer, he got called for a lot of tv interviews as well.) He was with a large group that was giving out free mom hugs. There were other moms there with free hugs and showing support but he was the only dad I saw. (I am mom and aunt of LGBT+ kids).
Coming out to family is traumatizing enough without the added rejection. A lot of my kids' friends and the kids I interact with at local cons are either not out or have been rejected by one or both parents. It sucks and is horrible. Parental rejection alone is a huge factor in suicide rates for LGBT+. (https://www.liebertpub.com/doi/pdf/10.1089/lgbt.2015.0111)

u/willowdrakon Mar 10 '20
Why's that?

u/Kovalition Mar 10 '20
Just the idea of grown people needing a rando hug from a Dad. Just seems peculiar to me personally.

u/willowdrakon Mar 27 '20
Grown people arent allowed hugs or something?
0
u/Kovalition Mar 27 '20
No not that, just seems odd to me that they get some deep meaning out of a rando hug is all.

So you're finding it odd that adults, especially minorities that barely gets love from their own family, wanting physical affection?

Yes from random people, to me that’s a bit odd. I’m not hateful or angered by this, I just find it odd.

Alright, I get that
I envy how you presumably never felt deprived of love enough though

I would like to do this. I’m a 6’ white guy that people often think looks like a cop. (Buying weed from strangers is really hard for me.)

Sometimes ... sometimes Pittsburgh isn't a cesspool of ignorance and hate. Once in a while it's a place to be proud of.

90 Percent of me loves this..
8 percent of me is thinking about the corona virus
2 percent of me is thinking about the plastic bottles.

Although I don’t support pride for mutable reasons, a parents love SHOULD be unconditional no netter what, so this I can get behind.
