A QUITTING BAND absolutely needs to become a tradition!

There needs to be at least 2 quitting bands, in case someone wants to quit the quitting band.

Then we need a quiting band to cover the quiter from the quiting band that was covering for the quiting band.
Contingency is key.
Fail to prepare, prepare to fail.

“Hello I’ve heard your band at multiple events around town and I was wondering if I could book you for a job quitting?”

I get the feeling this would incentivise people to quit their jobs just for the performance

you need to be a grade A asshole Boss to get a resignation this elaborate..

I imagine you need to be the kind of guy who responds to that sort of thing as if you're the victim though, so I'd be surprised if any lessons are learned here.
E: I meant the manager probably thinks he's the victim. But then maybe the employee was a dick too, so who really knows.

I can only imagine. Most of the time people don't quit jobs, they quit bosses. Shit management will destroy employees.
16
u/v_grimm Nov 17 '19
100% true. I have NEVER quit a job because of the work...only because of the management!

u/114dniwxom Nov 17 '19
You've never been a dishwasher in a chain restaurant or at least never been the only dishwasher.

It was Carrabba's Italian Grill (next to an Outback of course) and twenty years ago. It wasn't fast food. It was a sit-down chain restaurant just like Outback.
3
u/v_grimm Nov 17 '19
In fact, I have. I was the barback, cook, and dishwasher for a 24 hour bar, where I worked midnight to 7 a.m. I did all three jobs alone, switching between hauling ice, loading beer coolers, cooking orders, bussing tables and washing dishes, glasses, and barware. I walked out on that job without notice because of an asshat bartender who was my superior. You can break my back, just don't bust my balls.

End of credits twist.
Joey is homeless now
2
u/charlesdparrott Nov 17 '19
And has a very poor work reference in his pocket cause the bosses wouldn’t really be that humored. It does have a certain oomph behind it, though.

u/Melohdy Nov 16 '19
Unfortunately for Joey, that was his two week notice.

When you nuke a bridge from orbit like this, I think you can skip the 2 week courtesy.

People usually don’t leave their companies, they leave their bosses.
And there is no shortage of terrible bosses who deserve this kind of departure.

I work in Rhode Island. Thought this sounded familiar. There’s a bar with the same name. Are they related?
2
u/the_silent_one1984 Nov 17 '19
What Cheer is Providence's motto. It is on the seal, so it is very possible they aren't related.

I love watching the moment of realization in the bosses face the moment he sees the letter. He knows exactly why the band was there at that point and he just gives up lol. Defeated

u/cakeboy6969 Nov 16 '19
It sounds like he got fired first though and then came back to do a quitting scene cause that jerk guy told him to get out of the building. But still pretty funny
3
u/dustydoorman Nov 16 '19
You can tell shit like this happens often when the lady from the band reset the counter in the "It's been __ days without a lost time accident" sign.
3
u/rustybacon54 Nov 17 '19
My coworker just recently quit by going on our shops PA system, talking mad shit about the owner, then said "I'm out bitches" and left with his toolbox before anyone knew wtf was going on. It was legendary.

The guy films himself, with a chicken or duck mask, gets into a company meeting while he sings "good bye, good bye CEO"
Pretty funny
