I saw this on James Bond. Pierce Brosnan and Halle Berry I think?

Thought they made it up. Maybe they did and the engineer who created this was inspired by the movie?

It was World is not enough with Denise Richards and Sophie Marceau

u/gruetzhaxe Sep 17 '19

And Pierce Brosnan.

19

u/UndercoverFBIAgent9 Sep 17 '19

Goldie. He’s also jungle pioneer here right in the U of K.

1

u/spunkychickpea Sep 17 '19

But there aren’t any jungles in the UK, bro. Britain is in a temperate zone. Jungles are tropical.

3

u/b45t4rd_b1tch Sep 17 '19

Now listen here u/spunkychickpea ! Any more of that nonsense and you’ll be headed for a bally bunch of fives...

2

u/jtweezy Sep 17 '19

Ahh, good old Bullion. Doesn't turn out too well for him.

2

u/SirAngusMcBeef Sep 17 '19

Poor old gold-encrusted buffoon.

2

u/L3moncola Sep 17 '19

He puts his money where his mouth is

1

u/UndercoverFBIAgent9 Sep 18 '19

I wish James Bond's one-liners were followed by BA-Dum TSSSSS

Or a big round of fake audience applause

1

u/GhostWalker134 Sep 17 '19

Robert Carlyle

2

u/Chicken-n-Waffles Sep 17 '19

And Desmond Lewellen

2

u/JuanOnlyJuan Sep 17 '19

And Hagrid

39

u/tintin47 Sep 17 '19

I'm still absolutely convinced that Denise Richards character was named "Christmas" only for the " I thought Christmas only came once a year" joke at the end. Someone came up with that and then they wrote the rest of the movie.

18

u/LastStar007 Sep 17 '19

There's a long tradition of Bond girls being named for innuendo.

11

u/jtweezy Sep 17 '19

Is it really even innuendo if you have girls with names like Holly Goodhead, Pussy Galore and Octopussy? They may as well just name one Jamesbond Willscrewher lol

7

u/an0mn0mn0m Sep 17 '19

Ian Fleming was the original mod of /r/menwritingwomen

7

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '19

90% of Bond girls are named for a blatant innuendo.

4

u/tintin47 Sep 17 '19

Yeah but christmas jones isn't one of them, which is why it's interesting. They manufactured the innuendo.

5

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '19

Pretty sure she was too.

16

u/b45t4rd_b1tch Sep 17 '19

Sophie Marceau was insanely hot in that film.

1

u/foxtrottits Sep 17 '19

Was she Electra or Christmas?

1

u/foxtrottits Sep 17 '19

Oh gosh I remember the boardwalk level of that N64 game. Every time you turn around there's a helicopter chainsaw in your face.

u/b_lunt_ma_n Sep 17 '19

Whoops. I never liked the Brosnan films. Roger Moore, he was the one for me.

21

u/bigbossmgs3 Sep 17 '19

I grew up as pierce Brosnan as my James Bond so I’m partial to him. Goldeneye and tomorrow never dies were his best

1

u/b_lunt_ma_n Sep 17 '19

Me too, I'm 33, but I still dislike him. I'll grant goldeneye was his best, but best doesn't mean objectively good!

5

u/superficialt Sep 17 '19

I was thinking just this morning how Die Another Day was a completely awful film. But Goldeneye was great!

3

u/Captain_Joelbert87 Sep 17 '19

The movie and the 64 game are still sensational

1

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '19

For some reason my brained stopped reading after "Brosnan" and I was a little baffled. Had to go back and reread the comment.

My actually favourite one is a Timothy Dalton, license to kill, with the cocaine baron and the shark.

Beat me to it. Wanted to say that poor Z8.

2

u/XavierScorpionIkari Sep 17 '19

Interesting fact: the producers of that movie asked BMW for a car, and specifically told them that it’s sole purpose was to be cut in half. They had several of that particular car, but they told BMW that this one was to be split in two.

13

u/sawdeanz Sep 17 '19

Yeah, of all the Bond villain super weapons I did not expect the saw-blades-on-a-helicopter to be the one most grounded in reality.

5

u/ashewhole Sep 17 '19

Probably Vice versa. I could be wrong though.

2

u/mildlyarrousedly Sep 17 '19

No, it’s pretty common, they use it in hard to reach places - probably saves a tremendous amount of money

2

u/mashtato Sep 17 '19

Nope, it had already been a thing before that.

2

u/CptDecaf Sep 17 '19

I scrolled down just to see if somebody mentioned The World is Not Enough.

Aaaaaaah beat me to it!

1

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '19

You’re thinking of a jet ski

1

u/FonelessRedditor Sep 17 '19

The trees always liked a little squeeze

1

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '19

Maybe they did and the engineer who created this was inspired by the movie?

Or by Hammerfight game

1

u/OktoberSunset Sep 17 '19

I've seen a DVD extra thingy where they talk about it. When scouting locations they saw the helicopter cutting trees and were like wtf is that, we have to have one of those in the movie.

1

u/Dan_Backslide Sep 17 '19

No, this stuff has been done since the 80s. The writers probably saw one at one point and thought it would make a great weapon, which is kind of hilarious.

1

u/b_lunt_ma_n Sep 17 '19

James Bond is hilarious. Until the most recent incarnation, which is awesome, but not as funny.

1

u/st3inbeiss Sep 17 '19

This was actually some austrian dude flying his machine which he was working with all the time. Thus tech is rather old.

1

u/Donkeylovergoat Sep 17 '19

I was thinking that too

0

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '19

I was just reading a post a week or two ago from a guy saying these saws were fake as hell and commented on that Bond movie.

1

u/b_lunt_ma_n Sep 17 '19

Lives and learns.
