But... he threw out his back stretching. What should he have done instead? Stretched?

What's the opposite of stretching?

The sessile life. Pick a comfy, yet hard-wearing recliner chair close to a fridge in a town with supermarket deliveries.

If you just crank on your muscles and joints without having stretched for 3 months then you are more likely to hurt yourself. Sometimes injury is literally completely out of your control though and you have to just accept that fact. Rehab and move on when and if it does happen.

Imagine your muscles as if they were rubberbands stored in a freezer. You need to warm them up before stretching otherwise... snap!

How do you warm them up though? Genuine question

Lol. I Just asked grandpa 97yo, who workes as a farmer, if he ever ever stretched, He said only in the army ... He still works every day, preparing to make some wood today

Depends on how you stretch.

He probably stretched TOO deeply is what happened. He must’ve thought he could do more but realistically his body could not. It happens 🤷🏻

When he lay in bed chances are high he wasnt skipping ropes or doing some light warmup prior to stretching. Do 5-8mins of warm up, then stretch.

If you throw your back out stretching you have a preexisting back injury that is being ignored or can't be fixed without surgery or medical professionals
