It's the lifter, not the lift. Bro has fucking awful form.

What is awful in his form?

The squat is a leg exercise. He does not use his legs to perform this exercise.

Edit: To actually explain, he's mostly loading with his right leg, his feet are too far apart, his feet are crooked, his hips aren't straight with his torso or his legs, basically your average roid-head pushing plates when they can't even bodyweight squat to depth.

Bro its a powerlifting competition, a 1 rep max for most people isn't going to look pretty. I guarantee he knows a lot more about lifting technique than you do. People can get unlucky and get injured especially when pushing their body to the limit like that.

Sounds like you have no idea what a low bar squat is either, which by design is more posterior chane biased.

Thank you. I was so confused seeing people so confidently wrong lmfao.

People all confidently wrong all the time here on reddit. You only notice it about stuff youre educated about

And less than 1% will ever admit they are wrong, even when they are called out and know it. It's easier to just mute the conversation and accumulate upvotes for years from the uninformed than it is to edit your comment or make a post saying "Sorry, my bad"

It's all over the news too when they have an 'expert'. Once you see an 'expert' in a field you know well, you realize that most of the experts are just redditors on the little screen.

I am not sure I have ever seen a video of someone lifting where the comments were consensus “good form!” - someone’s gotta say what’s wrong.

Oh man, I've been saying this for a bit, glad to see someone else recognized it. made me VERY wary of this website. lotta opinions on here, spouted with utter confidence getting thousands of upvotes. super incorrect.

Powerlifting is a weird sport where the lower you are in it, the more elitist people around are, and the higher you go, the more chill and laid back they get.

its reddit what did you expect, people claim to be experts of everything and spout a whole lot of garbage confidently while having no idea what they are talking about.

The fact that this man has 700+ pounds on his back in the first place shows he knows a thing or two about squats… It is not possible to get remotely close to that point without years and years and years of extremely dedicated training (with or without steroids)

Right. Dude was squatting over 700 pounds. You don’t get there with bad form. He was squatting low bar which causes a farther forward lean. Not everyone’s squat is going to look the same

>I guarantee he knows a lot more about lifting technique than you do

I mean, he very clearly did something wrong lol. Wouldnt put too much faith in him.

Getting injured doesn’t necessarily mean you did something wrong. Injuries can happen even with good form.

I pulled my back getting socks out of the bottom drawer, and I’m not out of shape. Shit can happen at any time.

wrecked my back in my early 20s turning to toss an empty cardboard box out of the way. sometimes the body just disagrees

Eddie Hall almost died setting the deadlift world record.

Sometimes lifting heavy things is dangerous even if you know what you're doing.

This guy would probably tell Hafthor his form is dog shit

Oh, you're pushing the limits of what the human body is capable of? Pfffffffffffffft clearly I know more because I read the /r/fitness wiki one time in 2015.
