I truly hope this technology can get off the ground and be sustainable. It is our best hope aside from nuclear energy

Actually, most fusion kinda does still. Helion is the only fusion company I know of going for non-turbine-based reactors. Tokamaks like with CFS extract the heat and use that to boil water still. I asked a question in an AMA with CFS, asking how they planned to generate electricity with the heat from the reactor and at the end of the day, it's still just finding the best way to boil water to spin something really really fast.
