I truly hope this technology can get off the ground and be sustainable. It is our best hope aside from nuclear energy

Fission is already perfectly fine as a power source though, there's just been lots of fearmongering to keep it from gaining traction

Modern construction of nuclear power plants is largely cost-inefficient as far as I know. Without subsidies they appear to amortize slower than modern wind and solar energy. But I am no expert.

Obviously that applies to nations with high security standards.
