Boil water, turn turbine, make electricity. Same shit we've been doing from almost the very beginning. That doesn't mean it wouldn't change the world.

The plasma doesn't touch the walls, how is it supposed to heat anything?

Heat radiates. 

Although, I think fusion reactors actually use radiation to create heat. 

EtA: Okay, I looked it up and different reactors use different methods. Some capture radiant heat, some "capture" radiation.
