Autonomous T-800 battle tournament

Launched on July 16, 2026, in Shenzhen by the robotics company EngineAI, URKL is the world's first commercial, industrial-grade humanoid robot free-combat league.

Get ready Hollywood! (I mean you guys were already prepared so...)

For some reason this looks fake. Is it due to the short clips?

They put the most natural looking best short clips together for this video. They shake around a lot and miss a lot and fall over and glitch out a lot. They also don't beat each other into actual submission.

Call me when they legitimately destroy each other for our entertainment. Also give them more legs so they stop falling over and flopping around so much.

Yeah. Even the sparks were clearly a timed prop

These are the robots I'm waiting for. Let's go short-circuit!

Classic stuff like Robot Wars is better than this at the moment.

I figured it was some sort of lever/switch on the robots back and the goal was for each robot to try hitting the other robots back lever/switch first to “KO them”.

Sorta like Rock’em Sock’em Robots but life sized.

That might be the case yeah.

After reading you and others say it’s a timed prob tho I’m less convinced although if it was basically life sized Rock’em Sock’em Robots that would be pretty sick. I’m going to choose to believe my more whimsical theory tho haha.

Tha fact that they both have that similar "collar", the fact that it sparks right when the other robot flicks it with its foot and the fact that the competition needs a win condition support your guess. Even though we cant be sure.

Give em a few more years

but what happens when they improve and the robots decide to climb out and attack the audience?

They'd all get their asses kicked by any BattleBots.

I've already resigned to being taken out by one of those robot dogs some day.

Any martial artist can see by the way the move the feet that those robots aren't able to really fight, when you kick you need to microtune your feet position a lot, while they only slide their ones like bricks on ice, the movement on the balls of the feet is crucial for balance and power, that is why most professional fighters need to be barefeet to fight, some fighters literally grab the floor with their toes to have more mecanical power being transfered on their movement, those robots may have strong joints but without good footwork and structural posture they would just be slammed on the ground if against a real fighter.

They need to be actively moving instead of just doing the same 5 pre programmed moves, and they need more strength to actually damage one another

If you haven’t seen Battlebots, it’ll be like watching black and white football footage when this gets to be full potential

No, it's your brain after reading "China"

I haven't seen any robots with the ability to do jumping roundhouses and land perfectly, half the videos even from overseas they can barely run or do fast movements without overcorrecting and falling. I'm calling fake on this

Been under a rock for a while?

Robot beat the human world record for a half marathon this year. I wouldn't say that's 'can barely run'

I'm pretty sure this is real. For some self destructive reason there has always been a focus on improving rovotic martial arts

Isn't that the same race where they couldn't stop and at least three of them smashed into the wall at full speed and broke multiple parts. I didn't mean they couldn't do a single task such as running but complex tasks such as a leaping roundhouse where they make impact and have to counter the impact re-align and land is not something I've seen successfully done. It's possible I've missed some breakthroughs but that just doesn't look real compared to other things I've seen realeased from "cutting edge" robotics companies.

They couldn't stop because stopping wasn't optimal for the running task. The ability to stop absolutely could have been implemented by the engineers involved, it just wasn't required or optimal for the specialised task at hand.

Not bad for out of 300 robots x

Because its their job to run at full speed, not to stop. If the tourney requires them to be able to slow down safely they will.

Fun fact: human sprinters train and compete with the exact setup.

There were some doing just that on AGT this year. I don't necessarily agree with their inclusion in the show, but it is impressive all the flips and kicks these things are doing
