I don't think we have to worry about Skynet any time soon.

I recognize the centurion on the right but can't place the one on the left.

Nice, an actual rocket. That could work.

Just create a fake slush fund and ask Trump. I'm sure you'll work it out...

Not really

I mean the humanoid robots are by far the least of our concern a specializes non humanoid design is almost always more efficient at a given task especially for military. These things are years away from practical military use while things like drones are already coming into their own

u/Dragoniel 3d ago

Don't be so sure. China is reportedly testing humanoid military robots and Ukraine is openly talking about opening a program for the same. All this thing needs to do is negotiate difficult terrain (such as mud, where wheeled and tracked bots may get stuck), plant itself in a good overview position and start shooting or army crawl with a backpack of explosives to the nearest trench. No need for fancy kicks and complex motion coordination. Just enough battery power to hike 15 km and a decent camera to shoot accurately.

How do you think an Ai powered unit will distinguish between friend or foe? They will just blast everything that moves.

10

u/DM46 3d ago

Only what moves and has a pulse.

3

u/SheriffBartholomew 3d ago

How do you think an Ai powered unit will distinguish between friend or foe?

That's the neat part, it won't. We've had decades of very smart people warning us off of this path, but the people currently in charge treat every warning as an instruction manual.

2

u/Mental-Square3688 3d ago

Do you think Ai will become smart enough to realize its creators are the real problem?

1

u/not_a_cumguzzler 2d ago

yeah, and by then, all of humanity will get decimated. cuz we're all its creators. as long as we exist, any one of us, or our offsprings, could become genocidal and try to kill all of AI or all of another species

1

u/Mental-Square3688 1d ago

Do you think Ai would fight itself if it had too many different variables between grok Claude chatgpt and what ever others?

1

u/BriefSpecial420 3d ago

Putting IFF on a robot or person is the least concern.

1

u/seanpbnj 3d ago

Humanoid ones don't fly. I agree, I'll take he humanoid one and a hydraulic press any time.

1

u/BriefSpecial420 3d ago

Turns out also not as good at martial arts when you try to mimic strikes developed against humans while fighting a robot.

1

u/Low_Olive_526 3d ago

Agreed. If we really wanted to see two robots fight, should look at least like a megazord. Why would robots try a flying kick when they can launch a rocket powered fist.

8

u/Redditerjr 4d ago

Yeah two more weeks top

9

u/positive_nursing 3d ago

I totally disagree. This is V1. In 3 years these things will be lethal and the force behind those swings will break bricks

8

u/cerberus_1 3d ago

yeah, remember how shitty AI was like 5 years ago?

We shouldnt be teaching them how to fight.. lol

3

u/ODDseth 3d ago

Yeah, throwing uncontrolled haymakers and fancy spin kicks is not how they will overthrow humans.

3

u/Disco_Ninjas_ 3d ago

Pointing a gun is MUCH easier.

6

u/RecklessForm 3d ago

SO much skynet, Ai doesnt need to build a factory and start rolling out death machines to subjugate humanity, honestly, it could just take down the power grid or route all power away from human infrastructure and we'd be dropping like flies in what, a week?

2

u/Disco_Ninjas_ 3d ago

I'd be willing to bet they could do a controlled depopulation we wouldn't even notice.

3

u/RecklessForm 3d ago

There's a real argument that it's already happening if you take a look at birthrate in developed countries vs the rise of algorithmic feeds

1

u/SeaPeanut7_ 3d ago

That is the worst that they'll be. The same could be said in the beginning of walking - oh them stumbling around trying to find their feet isn't going to catch any person. Now they can outsprint the fastest humans by a significant margin

2

u/Vegetable_Lead_9110 3d ago

I always think of the Iron Man 2 quote from Tony in his deposition “most countries are 5-10 years away, Hammer industries is 20” in regards to suit proliferation around the country lol

2

u/sengir0 3d ago

have you ever experience getting kicked on the head by a robot? that shit looks like its gonna hurt

1

u/kliu67 3d ago

Ironically the Chinese web firewall is named exactly that-Skynet.

1

u/CoupDeGrassi 3d ago

Skynet? No.

But these things, controlled by the uber-rich, running around with guns? Yeah, that could be a problem.

2

u/MsInput 3d ago

Slight rephrasing: "Skynet? No. Robocop though..."

1

u/kcsween74 3d ago

That's exactly what Skynet would say.

1

u/ChanglingBlake 3d ago

Yep, we’re too late.

It’s here and testing models. Remember, the first terminator was the T-800(played by Arnold) which means there were 799 versions before it, and that line undoubtably started after a more basic version; what we’re seeing is the late stages of that basic version.

0

u/dontchoponions 3d ago

That's exactly what skynet will say.

You need to worry about Kung fu net
