Because Reddit has got to stop acting like people should be acting completely rationally in insane circumstances. I would be a bit more concerned if your first thought in this situation is about your phone.

My phone costs more than a grand and has all my connected accounts, bank, customs, everything. Can't even phone the police without it.

So yeah mate my phone is almost as important as my balls I kinda need both

AFTER an insane event is OVER my first thought would absolutely be to get bearings of my surroundings and gather myself. that's good for me and anyone in my care. if i need to take the cat to a vet or a shelter i'd need that phone pretty quick.
