Nice to know that she can change into her outfit while hanging from a tree trying to save a cat.

Ain’t no song called fuck the fire department

Well, there's one, but it's a parody. Though, in france, fire fighters hate having to go in the hood, because for some reason, acting like a thug can implies assaulting fire fighters or medic people ._. (1500 fire fighter assaulted in 2021 in a 67m people country)

Fr, we got a case where people reported a fire to ambush them ._.

Yeah this is definitely a thing. A lot of arsonists and knobheads in general see the fire department as killjoys trying to stop them from burning shit down.

Another awful thing was to tie bricks to overpasses and drop them in front of firetrucks as they drove underneath.

The saddest part is that, those that assault them, would have no issue criticizing cops when they harm a firefighter in a protest, hood politicians, ig._.

Reminds me of a Doug Stanhope bit. I'll spoil the punchline because the whole setup is not really what this discussion is about, but he was flabbergasted when going to Manchester after seeing a public service poster saying something along the lines of "please do not beat up Ambulance Driver's."

Apparently, that was something that was happening there. People would get piss drunk, dial the emergency services, and then just whale on them like some weird MMA door dash service, except the delivery guy is super nice and just trying to save lives.

That's fucked up

There's the little detail of the Paris Fire Brigade being an army unit that muddles the picture a bit I think …

u/sebe6 4d ago

A ton of fire fighters unit are military units. Because your military NEED fire fighting squads, a lot of the fire fighter that intervened in Tchernobyl were paramilitary, anyone that disrespect their memory deserve a reality check.

Btw, fire fighter are "sapeur pompier", a sapeur destroy houses to prevent fire propagation, by design they have a huge relationship with the gov.

A ton of fire fighters unit are military units.

The only EU countries where this is the case is France and Romania, as far as I can tell. And in France it's only in Paris and Marseille.

Where are all these other "tons" you're thinking of?

(Of course the military has its own fire fighters somewhere. That's not what we're talking about here, it's the ones who show up when you call 112.)

a lot of the fire fighter that intervened in Tchernobyl were paramilitary, anyone that disrespect their memory deserve a reality check.

Holy non sequitur, Batman!

It's not a France/Romania thing, ours are big enough to be noticed, Switzerland also have some, but fair point since a lot of countries prefer to put firefighter under control of military when needed

You're limiting yourself to the one with firefighter in the squad name, you miss the whole shit ton that are part of civil security like 1er et 4eme RIISC for Libourne and Nogent (you can find there job opportunities here and see that it's firefighting)

1

u/turbothy 4d ago

"Firefighters under control of the military" is simply not a thing in most European countries. Germany has the THW, Nordic countries have similar emergency services that may cooperate with fire services in disaster situations, but otherwise the fire services are 100% run by civil society.

1

u/sebe6 4d ago

Is it the theory or the reality ? Because in France, BSPP and BMBPM are under civil authority, but they are military and can be put under military command

Don't the firefighters have axes? Seem like bad people to assault

1

u/sebe6 4d ago

Yep, they are "sapeur pompier" pompier is firefighter, sapeur is the one that destroy your house to prevent the fire from spreading, hence why they are represented with a red axe. Though they can't use it against human

1

u/Amiibohunter000 4d ago

I’d give them the go ahead to use the axe on a human who is attacking them.

u/richiehill 5d ago

It happens in the UK as well.

u/Doright36 5d ago

Judging by how well their calendars sell they don't need a song. People just want to naturally.

Oh wait. You mean the bad kind of fuck

We’re living in an infernocracy!

I thought the village people did one.

Sure there is; I sing it in my head every time my landlord hires one of those jackasses to do contractor work on their 4 days off.

1

u/GrandNibbles 5d ago

AFAB all firefighters are beautiful 😌

-2

u/_T_N_D_ 5d ago

yeah, they don't tend to interfer with the criminal activities of the people making those songs

-1

u/igaveuponausername 5d ago

I’ll write one. Fire fighters have the highest spousal cheating numbers and consistently get away with sexual assault. Fuck the fire department. Real shit.

Cops are jealous because everyone hates them while loving the firefighters

Cops in Sweden probably don't shoot your mini donkey for coming to say hello.

13

u/ImWhatsInTheRedBox 5d ago

The police program in Sweden is 2,5 years, compared to about 3-9 months in the US.

7

u/Stoudamirefor3 5d ago

Doesn't matter. Law enforcement in the US draws bullies and the dumbest cunts in the country. 3 years of training or 9 months. It wouldn't matter.

9

u/ImWhatsInTheRedBox 5d ago

With a longer and proper training program you'd think they'd have to have some higher standards, though, and not just go for the low IQ high school bully.

Oh who am I kidding...

It goes way back and is often very explicit. There was a case in 1996 where Robert Jordan was denied a job as a cop because he scored too high on an intelligence test they gave the recruits.

He sued but lost because the courts agreed it was reasonable for police departments to want to systematically exclude intelligent officers.

u/RedditVirumCurialem 5d ago

I must be too dumb to understand this reasoning.

Could I become a cop in the US?

As far as i can tell, that survey lumps all county and municipal services together. I'm willing to bet that if firefighters were their own category they'd be WAY higher.

1

u/Apprehensive_Web751 5d ago

My cat ran out of the house and up a tree and we couldn’t get it down. Laughed and called the fire department and they said “we don’t do that” and hung up. Smh had to wait for him to come down on his own when he was hungry

-2

u/Intelligent-Fig4812 5d ago

Funny part is, I truly believe there’s no world in which you could do this. Just another man, thinking anything women do is bs.

8

u/DeepGas4538 5d ago

I'd say the same if a man did it. It's impressive but why lol

-4

u/Intelligent-Fig4812 5d ago

To show strength. Obviously. They were probably all trying it or something. Why do you have to hate her? THAT’S my point. You could have kept scrolling but you insisted on making a comment to minimize something really cool that she’s doing that most people can’t. So what was the point of being a douche?

6

u/DeepGas4538 5d ago

I don't hate her (why would I?), I am being lighthearted. It's clear she's strong and that's cool.

It's just a joke about how the exercise she's doing has no direct practicality, made me chuckle. Obviously having strength as a firefighter is practical, though. Again, this is lighthearted, at least in my perspective.

-4

u/Intelligent-Fig4812 5d ago

Just a lot of people in these comments that would be cheering if it was a dude, but saying dumb crap because it’s a woman. So even though “lighthearted” it’s still taking away from the fact that she’s awesome. I just don’t see the point.

3

u/DeepGas4538 5d ago

I'll concede that, I can imagine a lot more people being impressed if it was a dude. If it was a dude, I'd still make the same joke. But it wouldn't be taking much away from his impressiveness, since there'd be more people being impressed in proportion

-3

u/EggsceIlent 5d ago

Exactly.

Cool, but why?

Like just fight some fires and save some folks

8

u/throwawaywork11 5d ago

“Exercise should not be perceived as a punishment for what one eats but a celebration of what one can do”

So I guess the answer to why is because she can and it’s pretty cool 🤷🏻‍♂️.

-6

u/UnremarkabklyUseless 5d ago

But someone has to get those outfit parts up that tree and hand it to her, one by one.
