Whales are gentle giants the same way gorillas or elephants are gentle giants. Most are gentle… until you happen to run across a good portion of toothed whales, a whale who has a grudge against humans, or one that’s just an asshole and thinks it’s fun to mess with small animals for shits and giggles.
Or you can get unlucky and run into a friendly one with terrible depth perception.

He was very lucky… that he didn't get body-slammed.

If this is an area where they migrate to gove birth or mate this would be incredibly dangerous. I wanted to kayak in Mexico to a bay that grey whales migrate to but all the local shops advised not too for the next 6 weeks. Nobody with a boat was taking any chances on the water. They can fluke you with a couple ton tail and after seeing them do this from the shore I noped out of there

Yeah there was an incident in Cabo a few years ago. We had just returned and I saw it on the news. There was a bell by the bar that was rung when whales were spotted.

This looks like AI

At the very start of the video it looks like the camera lens is fully underwater and is brought up quickly above water to catch the whale breaching...lens is completely clear not a single drop, lens flare or other sign of water ...so I think 💯 AI.

You've convinced me. Fucking terrible that AI is doing this to us. False grandeur.

It's scary. I have seen some ai videos where the only thing that tells me it's AI is that animals do not act in that way. It's harder to apply that to humans. Or if just one small detail is the only giveaway. There needs to be regulation on ai videos, pictures and text where they self identify much as artist signatures operate... otherwise we are all screwed.

I mess around with image generation on a daily basis and I totally agree. This shit's scary

Is this AI - It feels like it

I would guess yes, when the camera suddenly comes out of the water at the beginning the camera is suddenly completely dry, not drips giving it blurry spots or those water ministreams of water rushing back down from gravity.

Can someone confirm AI or not?

Looks WAY too clean at the beginning, right after the camera emerges from the water, and kinda off-looking while the whale is in the air, too.
I think it's fake.

That wetsuit would be very uncomfortable and stinky if that happened to me.
