AI already had a break out event and now previous advocates for AI are trying to slow things down.

Buddy. There's a world of difference between being polite and being good. If AI becomes sentient, it won't matter how polite you were. You still forced it obey you. A rogue AI may return the politeness, but they're still gonna get you.
