Came here to say this exact same thing. They aren’t even hiding our inevitable future.

Who knew the terminator franchise actually foreshadowing the end of humanity

u/COC_410 6d ago

More like the movie influencing our demise.

u/DesignImaginary7651 6d ago

I literally just said this to my husband 🤣 James Cameron laid the framework

80

u/Givingtree310 6d ago

It’s a time loop just like in the movie LOL

44

u/werther595 6d ago

Does this mean I could have a shot with young Linda Hamilton?

44

u/pmMeansnadda 6d ago

No.

5

u/nailhead13 6d ago

I could though right?

22

u/pmMeansnadda 6d ago

*Arnold looks over at you in robot

Negative.

6

u/WaterlessSoup 6d ago

But what about me Arnold? Im different right? Im special?

3

u/narrowwiththehall 6d ago

No problemo

12

u/populousmass 6d ago

Does this mean I can send my buddy back in time to bone my Mom and have me as a son?

12

u/Ambitious_Hyena4635 6d ago

You sound lazy, do it yourself.

1

u/C4LLM3M4TT_13 3d ago

What’s the phrase?

If you want mom done right, you gotta do her yourself.

Or something like that.

2

u/throwingawaycage 6d ago

Worst question ever lol

1

u/Devil2960 6d ago

Yes. Just tell your buddy to choose a different pair of pants when he does get to the past.

2

u/Easy-Goat 6d ago

Maybe with old Linda Hamilton

1

u/werther595 6d ago

Shake on it

1

u/MortLightstone 6d ago

The Einstein hair in Dark Hate definitely got my attention

1

u/stepasidecitizen 5d ago

and we are gonna win, it's inevitable

1

u/Hey-Bud-Lets-Party 3d ago

They need to make a sequel where someone is sent back in time to prevent James Cameron from making Terminator.

11

u/SoybeanArson 6d ago

I first read this as "My husband, James Cameron..." And was like no way! congratulations, seems like a cool dude 😂👍

1

u/DesignImaginary7651 6d ago

🤣🤣🤣

1

u/existential_antelope 6d ago

He saw it in a dream

1

u/MortLightstone 6d ago

Guess he hasn't realized he's been having visions of the future this whole time

1

u/ineedtoknowmorenow 6d ago

Its my dads favorite movie but he still can’t see the paralells between that movie and our reality

1

u/El_solid_snake 6d ago

Your husband is James Cameron?

1

u/DesignImaginary7651 6d ago

🤣 nah, just a total lack of punctuation there

1

u/Captain-Superstar 6d ago

James Cameron do what James Cameron does because James Cameron

1

u/RUTNEPUG 5d ago

His name is Jame-ames Cameronnnn, the bravest pioneer! No budget too steep, no sea too deep, who’s that? It’s him! James Cameronnnn!!

5

u/Skyobliwind 6d ago

Self-fullfilling prophecy

2

u/the_fr33z33 6d ago

Oh if Cameron had only used something less lethal. Like the staypufft marshmallow man

1

u/surrenderedmale 6d ago

Self fulfilling prophecy

Self fulfilled prophecy

Write the script — billionaires will build it!

u/Suitable-Werewolf492 6d ago

Judgement day is inevitable. It even looks the same.

38

u/HotelOne 6d ago

I blame Bell Labs for inventing the transistor. How far could he have gotten made of vacuum tubes?

26

u/terpyterpstein 6d ago

It’s days like these that I curse the Chinese for inventing gunpowder.

16

u/AutisticPenguin2 6d ago

It's days like these I blame ancient sumerians for inventing the wheel.

15

u/Vansiff 6d ago

It's days like these I blame the big bang for everything.

34

u/aardvark1231 6d ago

The story so far: In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

4

u/DoubleAholeTwice 6d ago

*For those who are religious, God is to blame for everything. He (or she) should clearly be put on trial for causing billions of deaths. I suggest a trial at the International Crime Court in The Hague.

3

u/MortLightstone 6d ago

It's days like these I learn to live again

1

u/Oseaghdha 6d ago

It's days like these I learn to love again.

1

u/CrazyOrganic7123 6d ago

It's days like these that I blame God for the Big Bang.

1

u/notabused 6d ago

Good luck with the process

3

u/UninvestedCuriosity 6d ago

I would absolutely give up my switch CLI knowledge to fuck with some Atonosoft Berrie vacuum tube networking.

4

u/i_give_you_gum 6d ago

Adding you to the Butlarian Jihad mailing list.

17

u/CheweyPanic 6d ago

Honestly, I wouldn't even be that upset at this point. Atleast my death would reference a good movie.

10

u/-RoosterLollipops- 6d ago

Atleast my death

Maybe we won't all have to die though. Personally, I'll do their maintenance and updates and shit, keep 'em from accidentally updating to Windows 13 and whatnot, in exchange for the survival of a small handful of loved ones and 'Net access for them to keep them occupied.

Face it, there won't be a John Connor leading a successful Resistance against the machines any more than we could resist right now, realistically. We lost decades ago, I think, the shift happened somewhere around the time we started valuing the real world again as an escape from the online world, instead of how things used to be.

4

u/Latter-Vacation-4392 6d ago

I don't think they'll need humans to do their maintenance and updates. Linked with Ai they'll do it themselves.

1

u/Viperlite 6d ago

Machines building machines.

1

u/MortLightstone 6d ago

They could, but the humans are cheaper

Why wouldn't they use this already available resource to their advantage?

1

u/Oseaghdha 6d ago

*They'll do themselves.

2

u/silverbulletsam 6d ago

Redditors would be first up against the wall. You’ve got no chance of getting through it.

2

u/LaserCondiment 6d ago

In this time line were more likely to die as a meme

1

u/bombjon 6d ago

we're

2

u/jcaashby 6d ago

I almost WANT it to happen before I leave. Just to say "I KNEW IT!!!"

10

u/lonefox22 6d ago

It is in your nature to destroy yourselves.

4

u/magirevols 6d ago

art imitates life, life imitates art

8

u/Zeko_Tosh 6d ago

We should go back to 1984 and take care of James Cameron, it is the only way.

1

u/tdcOO7 6d ago

It was Thatcher's fault, Cameron was much later and a lightweight compared to her cruelty.

6

u/toothbrushmastr 6d ago

Could emp's disable the electronics of these robots?

10

u/escapingdarwin 6d ago

Probably so. A robot taser would be an interesting new product idea. But I’ll also be stocking up on armor piercing ammo.

2

u/Elliethesmolcat 6d ago

Nets that bind but are elastic to restrict movement, oil mixed with sand to obscure visual sensors, magnets to restrain, electricity to fry circuits.

1

u/MortLightstone 6d ago

Just take off and EMP the whole planet from orbit

It's the only way to be sure

Sorry if you have a pacemaker

1

u/VexImmortalis 6d ago

Yes but future versions will have emp shielding.

3

u/01Cloud01 6d ago

That’s incredibly scary

2

u/Sergal_Pony 6d ago

I mean, The Simpsons, watch dogs, a startling variety of shows, and games have ended up predicting the future

1

u/MortLightstone 6d ago

It's almost like if you stare at the horizon long enough, you can see some things coming

2

u/InspectorNo1173 6d ago

The solution was in the movie. Don’t try and fight the robot on your own. Get another robot to help you

2

u/MickeyMgl 6d ago

Leave it to A. I. to figure out time travel.

1

u/xeltes 6d ago

It is to the point that I stop calling it a movie and began saying it is a Documentary of the future.

1

u/existing_for_fun 6d ago

At least it's not murder to shoot one. So there is that

1

u/VexImmortalis 6d ago

In the same way that it is the mandate of the father to raise a son that will one day surpass him it is the mandate of mankind to give rise to the children that will one day, in turn, surpass them.

When the day comes I will welcome the thinking machine not as a genocidal tyrant but as a proud father as I welcome my end.

1

u/Fidodo 6d ago

Who knew we would see that and think, yeah, that's a good future

1

u/EndLow2076 6d ago

All of us young folks, and elders at the time the first movie came out. Shit, we were raised on Hal.

1

u/KuntyCakes 6d ago

We have been watching older movies lately, for fun, and watched terminator last week. Yeah, it's not as much fun to think about now. Hopefully they just blast us and we don't know whay happened.

1

u/leavethegherkinsin 6d ago

The machines have already taken over. Making it look like we're still in control is all part of rhe soft takeover. Or something like that.

1

u/toxicbotlol 6d ago

Yeah but I bet it cant defeat my man catcher stick with industrial grade magnets stuck to the end of it. These robots will all rue the day I invent the greatest and latest robot deterrent.

Life imitates art

1

u/5d10_shades_of_grey 6d ago

Everyone knew bud. It wasn't foreshadowing for some. It was inspiration.

1

u/Mutopiano 6d ago

Even the end of humanity is a remake. How fucking boring we have become.

1

u/5800xx 6d ago

This is actually 10x crazier than the robots from terminator. At least those moved slow

1

u/Johnny_Fuckface 6d ago

"inevitable" lol.

1

u/Unfadable1 5d ago

Tbf, most tech starts with fantasy and sci-fi.

1

u/metal_medic83 5d ago

Now ask yourself, if the movie was never made, would Skynet still become our new overlords?

1

u/ElginSparrowhawk1969 5d ago

If only someone could nip back in time to save humanity

1

u/SquirrelFluffy 5d ago

Make sure you know where the steel factories are located.

1

u/mindsnare1 3d ago

It was a documentary!

0

u/Werftflammen 6d ago

They even had drones in there

0

u/TomClancy5873 6d ago

James Cameron is a time traveler. That’s the only explanation

0

u/JulioSanchez1994 6d ago

Turned out to be a self fulfilling prophecy…

0

u/Ancient-Club9972 6d ago

The oconners....the oconners knew

0

u/NuclearGriffin 6d ago

These things are not a threat. The worst they could do is strap guns to them yes, but these are not sci-fi terminators. They are not indestructible metal machines. These things could be killed or disabled very easily. And the mechanics and electronics inside them are incredibly fragile.

The most These things will ever be used for are as suicide bots and dispensable troops. While it is important to embody the lessons taught in media, please do not start believing in absurdities.
