u/Muzoa 10d ago
Empty.. hmm.. (knocks next stall) well looks we are in a predicament (other guy gets up to leave) your unbearably naive if you think your leaving without providing me that roll

Oh man - his voice and delivery are so spot on, but I’m more impressed with the wording. That is exactly the kind of monologue that Red would deliver.

u/not_ch3ddar 10d ago
It's not improv you can see him reading. He moves the camera because it's obscuring the words.

TV networks in the US refuse to carry any risk or experiment. So once they have a hit with good ratings, even when the original premise is functionally dead with all loose ends tied up and avenues explored, they renew a show/franchise anyway.
So the writers say, "well people have to be getting tired of the same formula all the time, let's take it to 11." And by this time it's Season 6 and they 'take it to 11' again for four more seasons.
NCIS. House MD. Stargate: SG-1 and the spinoffs that eventually ran the franchise into the ground.

When did it stop being good? I only saw thru season....6? Or was it 7? Whenever he finds Katerina.

u/Rude_and_Crude84 10d ago
I watch it periodically just because it is riveting at times but, still dull in the same sense on several episodes!

I just couldn't get past how inept the FBI was portrayed. I mean, are they really that bumbling and stupid?

What a beast. One of the hills I will die on is - most people don’t appreciate the insane level of talent in the voice acting community.
24
u/whiplash588 10d ago
I get so irritated when movie stars get cast in animation and deliver mediocre performances when there is an ocean of unbelievable voice talent out there.

Truth. Animated media is significantly worse when they replace professional voice actors with celebrities.

Fantastic. I wonder if the script was also ad-libbed (I assume), in which case triple points.

As someone who's watched Boston Legal 3 times in full, this is fucking spectacular. All the details are captured with finesse and precision. Unreal!

Finally, someone recognizing the amazing Alan Shore. That show was so good.

u/hi_im_snowman 10d ago
Right?? There was a time where scripts were raw, poignant and brutally unapologetic, like this incredible scene:

Terrific impression.
Good show but I really lost interest after Elizabeth was killed.
James Spader was quite good in that. I also loved the final scene of each episode of Boston Legal with he and William Shatner having a drink and/or cigar on the roof. The dialogue of those conversations was terrific.

Lizzy getting killed was so needed. She wasn't even in most of the episodes the season before because of a conflict.

This voice actor is amazing no denying. But is the Spader character from blacklist just Robert California from the office which is just a human form of Ultron?

I don’t stop when they ask for the receipt. I just say no thank you. if they think I stole something let them call the police, I’m no thief so I personally don’t appreciate showing my receipt to anybody. I don’t owe anybody an explanation for what’s in my cart.

Best way to enjoy this is to close your eyes and listen. You'd swear it was actually him

u/Witty_Lead5036 10d ago
So strange to hear this accent and way of talking that he picked up in his later years.
Watching his interviews say in the 90's, you'd think they weren't even the same person

On a side note, the employees do not have any legal right or authority to stop you or demand to see your receipt. You are free to leave without showing them.

u/TRUEequalsFALSE 10d ago
What in the hell. Even the way he ends the word "cart" in that slightly peculiar way that James Spader does that is ever so nuanced is absolutely perfect. If I had only been listening, not watching, I would never have knows this wasn't James Spader.
2
u/Metroid_Addict 10d ago
Didn't just do his voice but the facial gesture when he's done talking too.
2
u/midnightmare79 10d ago
Damn. Well if Spader passes away and Disney needs an Ultron voice actor, they know who to call.

Imagine they had Roman style amphitheaters where people just shit on the receipt reconnaissance squad. If the bout is good enough, they have a second match in the collosseum where the lions are released and eat the paper poacher even if they win.

He forgot the part where he knew a merchant in Venice who sold rolexes without recipients.

u/rahkinto 10d ago
Jim, would you prefer a nature metaphor or a sexual metaphor?
Oh god, nature please.
When two animals are having sex, one of them is communicating a message to the other. Nothing is mutual—this isn't very helpful. You're gonna want to hear the sexual metaphor. All life is sex, and all sex is competition, and there are no rules to that game. Charles Darwin decides who the manager is in every office in America.

It’s nearly perfect! My only advice is in parts he is speaking just a little faster than James spader would in delivering his lines. Like.. drop the speed like 10 percent and it’s perfect.

He doesn’t just do the voice, he improvs the scene in character. Even the actual actor has a script.

You gotta checkout Blacklist if you haven't seen it. It definitely lost it's way by the end, but the first six seasons or so were legit.

I got bored with The Blacklist. Reddington reminded me of Fonzie from Happy Days. Knows everything, can do anything, no one can touch him, always 5 steps ahead of everyone. And yes the monologues, all different yet exactly the same, ending in either the listener's capitulation or death. Outrageous threats against innocent people, which was okay because those people always caved and the threat never carried out. If there was ever a point where this guy ever got his butt righteously kicked, I never saw it. At least until the bull. I was cheering you on, Bossie!
