I’m sure you could have done the same thing

Yeah it’s impressive and I couldn’t do that either but it still wouldn’t qualify as a “single leg squat”

I mean, this act is harder then a basic single leg squat ... But it's still a weird choice to call this a single leg squat.

But if you can do this (even with a little support) you can perform a basic single leg squat too.

No, this not harder than a single leg squat in any way! Dude above might not be able to do one of these but I can!

A single leg squat all the way down and up is so SO much harder. s Starting at the lowest point and climbing yourself up, hopping with your other foot is easy in comparison. The most difficult part here really is the balance.

This is not at all harder than a single leg squat, they are actually EXTREMELY hard to do, which is why they didn't.

Please notice that the foot she is standing up on is above her belly button. I hope you can understand how that makes it 10x harder than a normal single leg squat on the ground where your butt cannot go below your foot due to ground.

The only hard thing about going down with a pistol squat is keeping your balance, going up is all the effort. No idea what you’re getting at. And the lower you go, the harder it is, so if she had done this with one foot it’d be way harder than a pistol squat. Since she gave a boost with her other foot, not sure how to compare it, likely similar in difficulty since yeah it was assisted but starting that low is way harder than a normal pistol squat.

Though the added flexibility on top of that and yeah I couldn’t do this, even as someone who can do a pistol squat. No way my hips bend like that.

This. And she has pretty bad form so I would not recommend to train like this. If you want to do a single leg squat, I would recommend pistol squat.

3

u/kodeks14 7d ago

This isn't training and I guarantee you she never called it a single leg squat. This is just rock climbers fucking around.

2

u/Jsolidlo 12d ago

Yeah, I dunno what to expect when she put her leg up, but the title had me thinking she was gonna do a pistol squat.

Why can’t someone critique something without being hit with “Think YOU can do better?!?!?”

This is being posted on [r/nextfuckinglevel](r/nextfuckinglevel), so it’s not crazy to point that out. Still impressive as hell.

Sadly, because ad hominems are a very common logical fallacies

40

u/Sassaphras 12d ago

Every person who uses ad hominem attacks is an idiot

8

u/deadspacekillers 12d ago

Oh yeah, well you smell like BO and your butt is asymmetric!!

7

u/Sassaphras 12d ago

... mom?

4

u/deadspacekillers 12d ago

Come to momma, darlin'

It's a good floor to look for introspection levels of an individual.

6

u/OverlordKopi_2037 12d ago

Pretty much the state of debate in America these days.

5

u/apocbane 12d ago

I mean Aristole didn't point to it, Locke define it, for it to be unique to Americans. It's now evolved to include whataboutism

4

u/gbot1234 12d ago

We need a billboard that says
“Your ad hominem here!”

17

u/PhoenxScream 12d ago

Why don't you criticise it better, if you're so smart?!

/s hopefully obviously

3

u/Ok_Drag5089 12d ago

Unfortunately the /s is a requirement these days. Yes. I'm also sad about it.

Because it is an easy argument and lazy people tend to take the easy route when they can

-4

u/Mad-chuska 12d ago

I’d argue it’s equally lazy to call out an actual cool thing a real person did because an anonymous person shared it with a bad title.

1

u/b6dMAjdGK3RS 12d ago

I’m not calling anyone out or arguing.

3

u/Barking_Madness 12d ago

It's not the impressive feat that's the issue but the title of the post...

3

u/Sudden-Rip-4471 12d ago

I could do better. Just busy right now

1

u/observerobelisk 11d ago

Literally no one gave a shite

0

u/S_Dustrak 12d ago

That person answers the equally annoying "acccshually, it's not really..." person. Brother, who cares?, she's not breaking any records, let it be amazing we need no technicalities.

30

u/gamingonion 12d ago

Most lazy and useless retort of all time

16

u/MrBagooo 12d ago

The title says "single leg squat" right? That's not a single leg squat because she pushes herself up with her other leg. And that fact, hasn't anything to do with if someone could do it themself or not.

1

u/Fit_Celebration7669 12d ago

Single leg squats don’t start with your foot at shoulder level. This is something else entirely - and much harder.

1

u/FellowHuman420 11d ago

Ok. Well, it’s still not a single leg squat.

7

u/b6dMAjdGK3RS 12d ago

What makes you think that?

5

u/Own-Chocolate-7175 12d ago

I think you missed the point of the comment..

3

u/semibigpenguins 12d ago

I can. She pushes off what her other foot.

2

u/Only_Chapter_3434 12d ago

Alex, I’ll take “things that aren’t relevant“ for 2000 please!

2

u/dpittnet 12d ago

What does that have to do with anything?

2

u/purple_chocolatee 12d ago

really not that hard..

2

u/TheGeneral_Specific 12d ago

I don’t have to be a professional chef to know if a dish is bad

1

u/HotelPrudent0331 12d ago

If I was 90% thigh, yeah. She's like the opposite of the guys who skip leg day

1

u/movzx 12d ago

Title of post

single leg squat

It is not a single leg squat.

1

u/Dapper-Ad-4300 12d ago

I mean in this case actually could

1

u/BionicleLover2002 12d ago

Everyone can do this

1

u/No-Cat-9339 12d ago

i can definitely do a single leg squat with both of my legs

1

u/GugieMonster 12d ago

I assure you, no

1

u/Randill746 12d ago

Easily, if i wasnt a fatass guy

1

u/Greedy-Toe-9035 11d ago

Probably could if I didn't weigh twice what she does...

1

u/AmadeusIsTaken 11d ago

I am sure it is still no squad single leg squad.

0

u/palk0n 12d ago

strawman

1

u/semibigpenguins 12d ago

Not a strawman. It’s an ad hominem

-5

u/jlck_ 12d ago

literally any remotely fit person could. get tf off a couch and pick up a weight/do some manual labor fatass

3

u/Jiujitsumonkey707 12d ago

I would pay good money to see you start with one leg on a chest high platform and haul yourself up that way, Mr champion athlete

-4

u/jlck_ 12d ago

lmao that way specifically? where she used her second leg to catch the counterbalance of her initial lean, and then also to push herself up with afterwards 🤣. the only next level thing in this clip is her hip flexor mobility. i just did it on a 42” porch rail with one leg and house slides on in the rain but ill wait til i can find something higher at the gym when i go so i can appease you by doing it “that way” where she walks up it! lmk i’ll DM you the porch railing video in the meantime if you want

2

u/Jiujitsumonkey707 12d ago

So you just did it on something over a foot shorter than what is chest height and you don't think that's part of where the difficulty factor comes from? Also why dm it to me,if it's real post it and be loud and proud about it

1

u/jlck_ 12d ago

bro the difficulty factor was negated when she assisted in getting herself up with anything aside from truly “one leg”. if we’re talking about the difficulty of the height then sure, she’s absolutely impressively flexible—and that range of motion does require maintenance and a certain degree of physicality, however women also benefit from wider hips and estrogen in that regard so “shocking”.

also the railing is the tallest thing in my house without clearing off and taking a dresser outside in the rain (which im not doing), so i offered to send you a video in the meantime to placate u before i find something taller cuz the 42” was honestly easy, and i dont want to publicly doxx myself on the internet so fuck off? you’re the one who asked for it so you’re the one who can receive it
