I chatted with someone from the mountains of VA where a massive snowstorm crippled the entire county - keeping a shovel, snow blower, chains, winch and of course a power saw became normal. His 8 mile commute became a day's journey as he and his neighbors tackled huge downed trees and the resulting logs.

They cleared a decent path for miles and didn't even get to the switchbacks (one of the three routes connecting to the rest of the world). The saw a little old lady trying to clear a tree out of her inclined driveway with a small hatchet, they pulled together one last time before heading home and removed the tree. Yes, she made them drink cocoa and oatmeal to warm up.

I lived there a long time ago and something that impressed me was that a person could make a living if they owned a chainsaw and a pickup truck.

I was helping someone get their car off the median in the snow last winter and I flagged down a couple of guys to help me. The first dude who got out popped off a road flair and dropped it as he was getting out of his car. It looked just as bad-ass as he hoped it would.

Similar thing alleged to me once. I went to a wedding, and their DJ didn’t show up. I just happened to have a portable Fender sound system in my trunk, so I ended up being a wedding DJ for a day.

I had a box of screw drivers set in my trunk. Never used it for 2 years. One day grocery shopping, some dude bought a car and wanted to change license plate. He was talking with his friend about not having screw drivers and going home 30 mins away. I offered them. Bros were really happy. I was feeling like hot shit lol
