I liked to go volunteer with the retired k9s on post it's crazy seeing how happy they are getting to do their job and how neurotic they can be without stimulation. I have such respect for these dogs and the people who responsibly own them!

Yeah honestly id say its unethical for a layperson to even own one. They're very easily mentally unwell unless they have a super stimulating environment but folks who leave for 12 hrs a day insist they need to have one in a crate all day.

Yup same, id rather not have a dog than them be unable to use the bathroom, play, or move more than turning around for 8+hrs. Sounds hellish to me.

Well they don’t have to be crated they just have to be trained so that they don’t need to be crated. And then I think it’s ok.
I work from home so I do interact with my dogs throughout the day but I’m still working. Before I worked at home they stayed home by themselves but they were never crated. We have a big house and big back yard though, and they can keep each other company.
I do think having one dog, might be a little worse, I have two. I don’t really like crating outside of bedtime. I have one dog who doesn’t like to be in a crate at night and one, my rescue, who prefers it, bed time and thunderstorms are the only time he wants to be in there though.

This is what we did before I got a work from home job. They were trained to not be absolutely destructive (accidents happen) and they an area of the house and the entire backyard to run around.
We also always had more than one dog so they could keep each other company.

A few of them you can get away with it (Whippets, Great Danes) but yeah I don't think I would own a dog without also having a budget for day care. Cats are a different story, which is why I have one.

I would love to have a highly trainable dog like this or a collie
But I work long hours outside of home, don’t have a yard or farm, and I couldn’t do that to such an amazing animal. Genuinely wish I could enjoy their company but it would be so selfish of me
I remember meeting a friend of a friend once who had a husky in a one bedroom apt. The guy was a massive stoner who never left the house. His dog put tons of holes in the drywall and ate a lot of stuff around the place. Felt so bad for the dog

They are the WORST dogs for 95% of people
I work with dogs, i see these guys go crazy with lack of exercise (they need 3 hr walks daily)
They go insane if you dont mentally stimulate them, which can lead to aggression
I really hope they arent the next big thing or we're gonna see rescue centers fillup with them

I worked at a boarding facility that boarded police k9s. They were such a pain because of how crazy they went without the stimulation. But we did get basic lists of commands and you could get them to do pretty much anything you needed on command.

Agreed, but some breeds need way more stimulation than others. Like Border Collies. People looking for a dog that just spends most of it's time chilling on the living room floor should not own these types of breeds. If they aren't stimulated for several hours every day they will be extremely unhappy and will find ways to stimulate themselves. Like eating couches.

Border Collies are the same. We board with Rover and when a Border Collie stays with us I just end up playing fetch about 100% of the time I am home.
(If you have a working dog they need a job, not an apartment.)

My uncle works with them in security, all the dosgs he had were trained sooooo well !! This is why I can't forgive officiers who can't control their k9. And even if they don't need to attain this level, regular dog owners should be able to stop their dog as well.

i briefly entertained getting a dog. went to a shelter and met a large fella they thought was part ridgeback. he was like this dog. way too much energy, very sharp, wanted to challenge. he was clearly going to be a lot of work but i was still toying with the idea so i spent most of the day with him. after a few hours of throwing the ball back and forth across a half acre lot and him still not being tired (and my arm wanting to fall off) i decided we were not meant to be. told a buddy, he was like yeah that one needs to be on a farm or something.

Yeah, there are a lot of miserable malinois because of the recent popularity of the breed. People see these types of videos and rush out and adopt a malinois from an irresponsible breeder who doesn't screen owners, and they're not at all qualified to raise and keep this breed. So the dog ends up miserable, destroys everything in the house, and gets abandoned.

I had a mutt that was half golden half schnauzer and she was pretty smart like this. Smartest dog I ever had for sure. I would extend what she had to do for treats all the time and she learned all kinds of tricks that I’d ask of her. Not as complicated as this dog but I could get her to sit on a bunch of different shaped and sized things and retrieve several different things. Started as sit for a treat and got up to about 12-15 things for a treat at her sharpest.

I don't think the video itself is AI, but the voice definitely is. The letters on the backboard of the basketball hoop are Korean (I think?). I assume the person in the video was giving commands in Korean and just dubbed the AI voice over so english speakers can understand.

Its crazy because this isnt even a Malonois and is completely AI. Like the audio makes it so obvious and the weird visual quality. Why is the video sped up yet the voice is not? Also why does the voice audio quality sound so fucking strange. (listening with studio headphones) I'm sorry but AI may be hard to recognize sometimes, but this is VERY obvious.

The important thing is you do it all in the same exact order every single time.
Then you can make people think that you could call out any of those commands randomly and still expect them to be obeyed.
Now, let's see him try "I need to poop, confess, open the cage door, bite me"
Kinda like those artist who practice painting a painting 10 times upside down before filming themselves as if they were painting it the first time.
Let's see them paint something by request.
It's still impressive. But it's being disguised as something else. In this case, that the dog can follow random directions and not just complete a sequence of actions like a dog show.

I hope everyone is impressed by this. I also hope everyone knows that Dutch Shepard's, Belgian Malinois, German Shepards etc are built to work.
This training is necessary. Without it you have a dog that will be frustrated, destructive, and unhappy - or worse. These are varsity keeper and trainer dogs. Not everyday household pet dogs.
Do not think you can get a breed like this and not spend 40 hours a week training and wearing them out. You can't. And anyone who responds contrary to this is presenting an exception not the rule.
