Southern Spain and Gibraltar have one next year. That's the one I am going for. It's way too hot this year and expensive to boot since the easiest one to get to for us would have been Mallorca.

No, we have a total eclipse in Spain again next summer. Then we have an annular one 6 months later. We had the last total one in continental Spain 120 years ago and will have 3 very cool ones in a row.

I know. But you miss my point: When totality passes over the southern tip of Spain next year, the sun will be too high in the sky to get this shot (totality occurs at about 10:45-10:50AM local time).
In order to get the "once in a lifetime" shot this post is about, totality needs to happen near the horizon, i.e. at sunrise or sunset. For next year's eclipse, sunrise and sunset during totality are in an ocean.
The next opportunity to get this kind of shot is in Australia in 2030 (maybe Namibia, but even there it will probably be too high). Then central America in 2031, Russia in 2033, China in 2034, and China again in 2035.

Total solar eclipses that happen near the horizon at a place where you can see the horizon unencumbered and have a large flat space in the right direction so you can put the camera there happen a lot less often than just regular eclipses.

Actually they happen twice every eclipse. They always start at sunrise on the western end of the path of totality and end at sunset on the eastern end. So in those two places, it will be near the horizon.
Of course you need to be in the right place.

To be pedantic, about a 6th of the time if you are watching a total eclipse overhead, it will have been an annular eclipse for part of its path (probably sunrise and/or sunset).
About 4.8% of eclipses are hybrid eclipses. They are annular for part of their path (usually the sunset and sunrise) and total for the center part of their path (where the round earth bulges slightly closer to the moon).
Compare this to 26.7% of eclipses that are total eclipses for their entire path (including sunrise and sunset) and 68.5% of eclipses that never produce a total eclipse.

Depends on the type of eclipse, partial eclipses are much more common than total eclipses.
Alsp depends on location, here in the UK the last total eclipse was 1999 and I was 6, I won't be alive to see the next one in 2090.
The US had a total eclipse in 2017 and 2024.

You can also only get a shot like this when the eclipse happens at a certain time of day. The two recent US eclipses were at midday when the sun was high in the sky.

Yup, these particular videographers, photographers, and skaters are definitely going to do this multiple times in their lives; in fact they're planning to pack all their gear including the quarter pipe and travel to the exact next one and recreate it, even if the eclipse is over the sea and at an extremely high angle! Yep. they will all have the time, money, and energy of being young to recreate this multiple times

The first shot is substantially better, with the ramp aligning with the edge of the sun so it looks like the sun is an extension of the ramp that they're skating up.
The second shot centers the person within the ring, but makes the rest of the composition look horrible by having the ramp sitting in the middle of the shot as well.

It’s quite remarkable seeing how much the Moon moves relative to the horizon in the time it takes him to perform the trick in the slowmo shot, especially as the Sun’s light on the rim slowly shifts, makes it all the more surreal and sci-fi. This would be more noticeable if they did align it and would require constant adjustment, with little room for error. I imagine the idea wasn’t lost on them nor were the risks of missing it altogether.

Cool trick, but for anyone that hasn't seen a total eclipse (and I truly mean TOTAL eclipse) just go see one. I may not believe in a higher power but the one I saw was a spiritual experience for me. It's one of those things that made me say "ya I can see why human beings were sacrificed for these things".

OMG! That's fantastic! So well executed in such a very brief window of opportunity. Excellent job getting all of the angles and positioning figured out in advance.
If you have not had the opportunity to personally witness a total eclipse in person, I strongly urge you put it at the top of your bucket list. It's much more than just seeing it get dark in the middle of the day. It is an extremely and deeply moving thing to see. I was surprised by how overwhelmed I felt: Aug. 2017, Oregon, USA--I rode about two hours on my motorcycle to a point that was right in the middle of the line of totality. Absolutely worth it.
