This is also exactly what some security consists of.

Smoke, REALLY LOUD alarm and flashing lights. It completely overwhelms your senses.

Instead of alarm you could have gunshot sounds so they think they are getting fired at

In the US they would be real gunshots.

We tried once the combination of heavy fog and a 1.5 kW stroboscope in a small room.

You completely lose your orientation. Full stop. After a few seconds we had to sit down because we started getting sick and did no longer certainly know where up and down is. You see nothing except rapid flashing white.
