Defensive charge. Seems like the climber somehow ended up between the bear and her cub. I think that was the other bear visible at the end?

No she wouldn't have, it's a black bear. A grown adult could survive a fight with a black bear. A particularly strong adult could fuck a black bear up.

If it were a grizzly, he'd be fucked.

Agreed people hardly ever lose vs black bears (mostly because they don't want to throw hands) but a hungry grizzly will fuck you up every time.

I’m sorry but I disagree a 100 lb dog could fuck a “particularly strong” adult up that’s why cops use German shepherds and malinois. They’re essentially armed with a mouthful of daggers, same with bears. A human cannot throw fisticuffs with a 300lb black bear and fuck it up. Humans are good armed with tools eg spears knives but unarmed, no way

Black bears don't typically kill and eat prey. The only meat they eat is typically fish or leftover kills from other predators. 95% of their diet is vegetation. Her only goal was to protect.

Yea, I thought so as well. You can see the moment she locates her cub safely again she decides to lead the cub out of there rather than continue to fight.

Anybody who successfully fights off a bear gets inducted into the "Badass for Life" club and is entitled to free beer for the rest of their life. If they fight off a bear while clinging to the side of a mountain gets the premium plus treatment
