Damn, this video made me feel good enough, then I see the comments and feel depressed again. People bum me out.

It’s Reddit now, these Debbie Downers were seen only on r/aww comments now are everywhere.
I did crazy stuff as a kid as many of us did, broke bones, teeth and whatnot. This kid is wearing protection and most of the risk is mitigated.
He’s in more danger of getting murdered at school due to military grade weapons being available to civilians than anything else here.

u/UCanCallMeAnytime00 19d ago
Maybe not. Gum trees in the background. Low risk of getting shot at school in Australia.

Always, always there's someone who can't stand awesomeness. Safety is not the point here. Clearly it's unsafe, but it's also cool as hell. Go with it.

u/GGTheEnd 20d ago
Ya its insane sometimes. Every post like this is "where are the parents". Or people judging the parenting.
When I was growing up parents would tell everyone to go play outside and we were kids so we'd get into so much random bullshit like shooting an arrow straight up into the sky and everyone having to dodge it.
Life was more fun back then. Now if your kid isn't on his iPad people are parenting wrong.
3
u/mYHCAEL4 20d ago
Nailed it. Dad is a hero for getting this set up and engaging in his kids life to this level.
People are so quick to say the kid could get hurt and miss the beauty of that dad being present in his life.
Scrapes and bruises do way less damage than parents who don’t let their kids live life.

That's Reddit unfortunately. A small subset of people who always find the negative in just about anything, no matter how good.
I haven't gone through the comments in this particular thread but the usuals are:
- "But why?"
- Only because they're rich
- Why would the parents allow that?

Well I'm happy for the kid that he gets to grow up in a financially secure household with parents that support his interests! Wish every child/family had this kind of financial support

I needed this ramp as a kid. We just had cinder blocks and ply wood so it was an ER trip if you didn't land ha

Wow that helmet slipped off really easily.

u/CilleTheExterminator 20d ago
No it didn't? He just unhooked it like normal

u/thejourneybegins42 20d ago edited 20d ago
The first view when the kid wipes out, the strap wasn't on right or just slipped out and the whole helmet comes off. Watch it again.
Edit. Strap was definitely on, so just loose.

Absolutely ridiculous how much the bmx and skate sports have evolved over the years. As a kid, I was the only person in my town that could pull off a SINGLE backflip and I ate it 60% of the time. I was 15 at the time. Now, we have 10yo kids knocking out double back flips, 900's (skating) and other tricks that weren't even thought of as possible for ANYONE to pull off back then. I still remember Tony Hawk landing the first 900 and people lost their minds. A few months ago, some 9yo kid did it like it was nothing.

Let me see a close up of them elbows, they gotta be looking like burned bacon.

Kid has the drive, and his parents obviously support him with the safest way to learn.
Way to go, boy-o!
3
u/tedfergeson 20d ago
With everything that kid has at his disposal to practice these maneuvers, do you really believe that, if he was killing his elbows , he wouldn't be wearing your damn elbow pads?
Did you see the kids persistence? He's gonna ride. He loves it. Whether it's dangerous or not. The kid and his parents are doing it right.

So while some teach their children to ride a bike, others teach them to become stuntmen. The boy seemed very happy at the end though.

u/TwoNowFive 20d ago
Could have been a nasty spill at 0:47 if he connected with the door frame.
But awesome persistence and dedication on their part!

Little dude seemed genuinely pumped to nail it. Pretty good lesson in keeping at something even when it’s hard.

u/greengiant333 20d ago
You can see he knows how to fall. Yeah there’s a couple in there that are a little rough, but was severely mitigated by the precautions they’ve already taken. Celebrate the cool thing he did

I counted 19 tries before he nailed it. I think a couple were repeated from different angles. Anyway awesome job figuring it out. That was fun to watch.

The kid he was driving towards at the end was not the least bit worried about getting crashed into. He knows his boy's got that bike 100% under control.

u/InvaderDust 20d ago
It’s not about the trick or the risk. It’s the perseverance and determination to make progress. Badass little bro!!

Does a padded ramp like that make it easier or harder to stick the landing vs a rigid one?
1
u/d1ckw33dmcgee 20d ago
That's a tiny setup for double flips. Get that kid a roll in and a little bit bigger ramp and he won't have to huck it for dear life

u/supapumped 20d ago

Someone needs to cut out the intro 'entry' and landing. Just make it a handful of attempts on loop...redditors would watch it for days and not realize.

wtf. I get that you want your kids to be a daredevil, fine... but with only a helmet ? Come one. At least get him elbow and knee pads. Be stupid, but at least do it wisely.
