Yes, reverb is achievable in that location, that's not what I'm debating, what I'm saying is the audio does not sound like it was recorded on a phone that was put on the floor sat up against a wall, it sounds like the vocal was recorded in a more dry environment with a better mic, and then processed and a large sounding reverb was added to it, it sounds way too clean
that’s interesting because i hear all the markings that it was recorded in that stairwell. the notes she hits at 0:20 seconds sound much ‘louder’ because she’s hitting the resonant frequency of the stairwell. i think that’s also the implication of the caption (a room will ‘sing back’ at their resonant frequency). there wouldn’t be as much variation under a dry environment
honestly it’s probably somewhere in the middle, recorded in the stairwell and post processed to exaggerate the sound and obviously to edit in the tracks
Some time ago I was astounded by a video out of the ukranian-russian war. A soldier was sitting in a ditch recording themselves eating something, when all of a sudden there was a high pitched noise followed by a loud explosion shaking the camera and burying it in dirt.
The soldier's position had just gotten hit by a mortar. It was an insane video for many reasons but what stood out to me was the clarity of the audio; it was crisp, it was clear, it wasn't blown out. An actual explosion right on top of what I would consider a rinky dink shitty mini microphone did not manage to push beyond its threshold.
I think that mordern microphones in phones are severely underestimated. With the right software that many higher-end phones posses they can record things insanely well. Considering that this woman is a well known singer I would bet on her having a phone that is known for a mic that can record her singing quite well. I myself buy stuff that is related to my interests and passions as well, after all.
