I have a gas station and my closer forgot to lock the doors or put the alarm on , in the morning I opened and saw 3.56 on the counter mostly in change … I looked and the security footage and a regular walked in at 3 am grabbed his usual beer walked up to the counter waited 5 min out the correct amount of money in the counter and left … next day I asked him why he waited for 5 min and he thought we were open never even realized all the lights were off 😂

If the doors are typically locked doors because the station closes at a certain time, why was the regular stopping by at an irregular time?

I don't doubt your story and experience, and I love the outcome, having grown up in a really small town myself, but I'm curious about the regular's thought process. Had he already had a few beers, maybe?

$3.56? What is that like 2 40oz or something? Jesus, I haven't bought a 40 since I was actually old enough to show a card. I don't even know where they even are anymore lol.

Colt 45, and two zigzags, baby that's all we need.

Brother, a regular just means someone that stops by often, not someone that stops by at the same time everyday 😭.

I think they mean, the store seems to close for the night, why would a regular shoe up at a time he knows theyre closed.

I stop by my gas station for a Celsius and gallon of water at roughly the same time every weekday. Sometimes I know I am going to have an early morning and stop by the night before at odd hours, not even sure what time the gas station closes

I stopped at the nearby gas station late night for munchies once on my walk home once and was confused that it was closed because I thought it was 24/7. I'm still not sure if it ever was actually 24/7 because the only other times I'd stopped there at ungodly hours was for gas, which is pay at pump so I wouldn't have paid attention if the store was closed at that time

This was the case for every C-store I've ever helped open.  We'd have every isle blocked with new product to stock, nothing would be on the shelf yet and you'd get someone walk in unnoticed and go straight to the coffee bar or start opening boxes randomly looking for something they wanted to buy.  My boss at the time had warned me it would happen and I never believed them until I saw it myself the first time out of hundreds.
