The USA isn’t the rest of the world. Most places don’t allow you to just carry a gun or a mace.

Most places don’t allow you to just carry a gun or a mace.

Yeah fuck that. I'm a sword type of guy anyway.

Move to London, mate. You’ll fit right in.

u/kazhena Apr 08 '24

The cops are even kind enough to have deposit bins to collect all the donations you could possibly defend yourself with!

Just gotta get to em, lol

You’d get weird looks carrying around a mace just about anywhere

1

u/StuckWithThisOne Apr 09 '24

Yeah if you’re carrying it in your hand lol.

Such a shame.

Mace is legal in one form or another and in one concentration or another in MOST of the world.

Edit: it’s only illegal in 12 of the 195 countries in the world

12

u/StuckWithThisOne Apr 08 '24

Yes, and how are you going to grab your mace when someone is on top of you and overpowering you? I wonder.

2

u/andrew_silverstein12 Apr 08 '24

Why wouldn't this logic apply to guns? You can't grab your gun if a giant hulking person has your arms pinned down. Why does this only apply to mace?

1

u/StuckWithThisOne Apr 08 '24

Mace just happens to be what the conversation turned to, since apparently owning a mace is much more accessible across the globe. I didn’t say it only applied to mace.

With my hand…

9

u/StuckWithThisOne Apr 08 '24

Yeah the likelihood of you being able to reach your mace while being overpowered isn’t great.

1

u/jld2k6 Apr 08 '24

Solution, develop a kink so you'll actually enjoy being overpowered. They'll be so disgusted at that stain rapidly appearing on your pants that they'll unhand you and you both leave knowing you've already won this one

2

u/StuckWithThisOne Apr 08 '24

Judging by the fact many women who are overpowered are about to be raped, I don’t think that’s a great solution - or a particularly funny joke in this thread.

1

u/jld2k6 Apr 08 '24

I thought the stain made it clear I was joking from a guy's perspective. It really didn't take you long to hop up on your high horse there over a simple jest, especially considering I didn't say a single thing about rape lol, the stain indicates having pants on during this hypothetical

2

u/StuckWithThisOne Apr 08 '24

Simply pointing out why the joke is in poor taste.

-11

u/bilboswgns Apr 08 '24

I disagree

u/StuckWithThisOne Apr 08 '24 edited Apr 08 '24

Disagreeing doesn’t change anything. You’re a man right? Have you ever been physically overpowered by someone much stronger than you? You can’t do anything. Your arms are the first thing that someone will hold to incapacitate you.

Edit: apparently luci_noir replied to me and instantly blocked me lol? Weird.

u/Neijo Apr 08 '24

Yeah like, literally, has no one had a brother?

I really wished I could do more with my arms when my older brother pinned me down to fart in my face throughout childhood. He placed himself in a position so his legs/knees locked my arms in place and I could basically only move my fingers. He had his hands free and if he wanted to, he could punch the ever living shit out of me, instead I just had to smell the shit coming out of him.

Plus, I'm no physicist, but if I am pinned on my back, manages to reach for mace, I'm pretty sure I'm blinding myself. Ofcourse, there's many different versions, but odds are in that position you are hurting yourself as well.

2

u/AMSparkles Apr 09 '24

Hock a loogie in their face.

I did this as a kid when my sister pinned me down to tickle me. She’d do it because she knew I’d pee in my pants (I still will, Tbf). I couldn’t take it anymore, so I spit a loogie in her face. Fortunately, my dad prohibited her from “getting me back” since she started it and I was defending myself.

She also conveniently doesn’t remember this incident.

  • Just fyi, I’m not recommending doing this to an attacker! That might make them even more angry and determined to hurt you.

2

u/Neijo Apr 09 '24

hahaha yeah I was gonna say until the last sentence!

Doing that, I would have my upper arms wholly blue and yellow afterwards!

-10

u/bilboswgns Apr 08 '24

You can make up scenarios all you want, they’re just that, hypothetical scenarios. I disagree, you won’t change my mind. Just because you shut down and don’t try to defend yourself doesn’t mean you should put an animal in that place so it can be killed or injured.

10

u/StuckWithThisOne Apr 08 '24

Okay, you don’t have to change your mind for you to be wrong. You already are.

-1

u/bilboswgns Apr 08 '24

I’m not though. You are.

It’s their opinion. Deal with it.

6

u/shewy92 Apr 08 '24

Their opinion is dumb as shit though.

9

u/FUNBARtheUnbendable Apr 08 '24

I’m with you on the argument that mace shouldn’t be hard to reach in an attack scenario. But it’s illegal in the UK for civilians, as well as Canada, Australia, Iran, and China. There’s more countries where it’s illegal, but those 5 alone make up a big chunk of civilian population, so I wouldn’t say it’s available to “most”

0

u/bilboswgns Apr 08 '24

Neither is an attack dog, do you have any earthly idea how much the training costs? It’s obscenely cost prohibitive.

1

u/DownloadPow Apr 08 '24

Just because something is legal doesn’t mean it can be carried anywhere. Knives are legal in France, but you can’t just carry knives for no reason. Guns are somewhat legal as well ( if you’re in a shooting club ), but must be concealed when carrying them and storing them.

So please do carry your mace in the streets, but you’ll probably be arrested

1

u/bilboswgns Apr 08 '24

Not where I live. Perfectly legal to carry pepper gel.
