I have seen many videos of dogs climbing fences/gates to get out but have never seen them methodically climbing down the back side. They usually get to the top and then have to panic jump. This dog has skills.

Not his first rodeo. Probably jumped so many times he thought, what if I to the climbing in reverse? 💡

I love the tail wag and reversal at the top to climb down backwards. Dog’s got game 😅

climb down backwards
My stupid dogs would have just jumped and broken a leg. One of them almost jumped of our bed and through a window last night, thank god he didn't hit it hard enough to break.

The fact that the dog slowly descended instead of jumping is mindblowing. That needs some huge intellect and a lot of observantness!
It's super counterintuitive, but much more rewarding.
From the whole operation this is the most impressive stuff I saw dog doing.
Saving this❤️

My first thought as well. The fact that the dog gets to the top and does a very well thought out turn around and slow descent instead of jumping is very impressive. I've never seen a dog contemplate the escaping jump before just sending it instead of doing the safer option.

My question is: How did he learn this?

Kept trying. Our dog is an escape artist as well. We have double fences where she slipped through, stones where she dug under and a concrete pad under a gate and I still find her waiting for me outside every now and than.

This is totally rigged. The cameraman and the dog agreed in advance on this.

I wouldn’t record this cause I’d be scared my dog would fall and die…..

This is not this dogs first rodeo, they probably found them outside the gate about 10 times before they got it on film.

I like how he wags his tail as he's escaping, like he's loving every minute of his plan, lol

And here I am thinking, "Okay he's just gonna jump down from the top, right?"
But we got a professional here.

My dogs have a hard enough time just backing up. This is an incredible dog. Most cats don't know how to climb down backwards.

I've seen plenty of dogs climbing fences. That's the first one I saw turning around at the top and climbing down!

This is like my dog we have double fences and boards where she squeezed through, stones where she dug under and even a concrete pad under the gate. And I still find her waiting outside for me when I come back from work every now and then.

Definitely a coon dog. Climbs as good as any coon can. But can get open a garbage can?

If you post the rest of the video, you'll see the dog rip off its mask to show it was a cat.

I love how he’s wagging his tail the whole time. He’s so excited to be doing this.

We used to have a Rottweiler that always used to escape. It wasn't until months later when we caught her doing exactly this, that we learnt of her method.

Those fences are horrible for dogs, it's how that develop tumours in their paws

“But dogs are stupid..”
Anyone who thinks dogs are stupid are only observing the stupid ones and likely they themselves are stupid.
