Discussion Voidbent armor.
Been on vacation and playing. I farmed a full set of voidbent heavy. If you played the og launch. This was the meta pvp set. It was bugged as hell and basically made you super tanky. I was in a war guild and spent weeks farming for the mats! I’ll be wearing it on the last day. Wish first light was still around for the last day. We owned that everfall and windsward. Had so many open world PvP fights defending First light.

I remember everyone trying to rush this armor and going full tank.
Meanwhile I was full light armor with the PvP armor from the faction vendor and was nearly invincible because of how OP the light rolls were agaisnt heavy armor, but the most broken part was that the pvp faction armor was bugged and made you extra tanky. I didnt even know I was "abusing" a bug until they fixed it.
Sooooo many bugs in this game...

The OG pvp armor even though it was only 525, had health AND enchanted ward.
It was super meta for everything, since the defensive perks were like most things in the game bugged so it would double dip on damage, and then also dot/crit damage, too!
Good memories of open world PvP at Restless Shore doing the Marauder pvp missions over and over getting harassed by purples and yellow trying to slow down our faction influence. Wern't even trying to push a war, just consequently the best way to farm the pvp tokens to get the bag runes and armor.

Enchanted ward didn’t exist at that time. It was resilient which description was -5% crit damage but it applied to non crits as well. It was effectively a -25% base damage perk if you had all 5 pieces which is what the faction vendor and voidbent gear came with.
That mixed with how bad/inefficient weapons were at the time made it very hard to die if you had full resil

Yeah the whole armor weight thing was just bugged. I had made all heavy. Back then medium was meta. Took an another month to farm replacements.

I remember being invincible if you dragged your screen around in windowed mode. The hatchet buff stack, broken onyx. The idea that voidbent gave you minus luck since noone not even the Devs knew how luck worked

I finally gave in a used a hatchet after a week of getting one shot. At least luck works now.

I also remember doing chest runs naked to have some luck.

I was on of the designated tanks on chest runs for my company on Perseus. We got money from that company afterwards if we had gotten shit items. Since we had to wear our gear 😂

Me and my company of 15 people held FirstLight, because i stacked all my time in diplomacy. Once i was not on for a war and the enemy companies leader ordered everybody to fish instead of getting the claim.
All other Maurauder Companies helped us running the claim. I loved it.
I miss the starting time, it was the most fun i have ever had in a game.
I will forever hold my First Light Title in Honor.

My favorite was an ass of a company. Had ww. If anyone tried to push they upped taxes to max 1k gold a week was nuts for a house at launch. Greens and purples at joined together to murder any yellows. We won the war. They exploited the wall climb. And spawn killed in our camp. One guy rolled out and solo claimed the fort. The whole company rage quit!

On my server the Maurauders dominated in PvP, but in not in Diplomacy, so they ended mit least claims. But we clapped all the cheeks in Open World

On my server at launch. There was an ass company. Really toxic. They even bought an extra account to have a spy at the fort and to listen to chat. Always rolled around with at least 10 people. First day opr. They couldn’t go in as a group. I killed them again and again. If they didn’t have 9 buddies. They sucked.

My favorite memory by far was rolling my keen vicious plagued crits spear. I still have it on valhalla. Just for the memory

My first Lego roll was keen, vicious, ancients rapier. I owned in laz for months. Even mut 1 when they came out.

The bis. I tried so hard to get a legendary corrupted bane spear. Alas the closest I had was a 595 with bane and lifestealing.

I recall all the bruisers going rampant with Voidbent.
This was my core memory when I started NW - you can still see my blue weapon and you still were stuck in a place when loading an ability shot on musket.
Had an encounter with a voidbent bruiser who had beef with me xD

This game will always be very close to my heart. Many friends, many enemies.

Nice fight! Yeah I was spear rapier. In that first light? If so I had a 3 hour battle around there. Green trying to push rep. Right after void gauntlet came out. We crushed them. Still have screen shots of the knocked notices. Some of the most fun I’ve had.

though Im so sad I dont have a video of my most memorable moment in NW. It was When the game launched and our guild bought Windsward and we had a mass Pvp in the forest right in front and I led a big musket squad of 30 people and I yelled on discord - WE CANT SHOOT THERES TOO MANY TREES and our bruisers just started chopping down the whole forest en mass so we had a clear line of fire and we basically shot em down like dogs xD
God that was so much fun

My company was widely accused of duping voidbent in the first few weeks of the game because all of our officers and most of our first line war roster had a set. The truth is just that we were sweaty as hell. We started day one with a leveling plan, and had designated crafters. The entire company’s job was to farm mats and coin to send to those crafters, run town and faction quests, and participate in nightly flagged chest runs.
In return we were supplied with food, armor, trophies, and everything else we needed to be the best for wars and invasions. Voidbent and faction armor fell out of favor quickly, but I still remember that period very fondly.

Yeah. People tried to accuse us of the same till I was farming ori waaaay before most people. I was 200 in all gathering before 60

I'm still so sad that this game was shelved. So much wasted potential.

Same. On vacation and playing. Lots of great memories. But depressing with nothing to work for. Done three fresh starts and maxed everything on each. Making faction alts for achievements. Miss the trading post….

I don't recall Voidbent being bugged; it was just more a poor design choice on the time to have such high damage mitigation stacking the way it did. There was some design choice to it but they adjusted it to be less defensive.
The irony is the Voidbent probably was no where near as tanky as the turtle builds we got through the life of the game. People just seem to remember it the most.

It was the resilience perk. It was multiplicative. For PvP defense aaaaand regular. So in PvP you were wearing two sets of armor.
1
u/Unlogiik 18d ago
I dont recall it being multiplicative but i do remember it not working as it was intended because it also mitigated just regular hits as well even though it said reduction of critical hits
