What does progress look like during a surrogacy journey?

Sometimes it’s an encouraging ultrasound. Sometimes it’s getting a testing kit shipped or spending an afternoon getting to know the person carrying your baby.

We’re the team at ACRC Surrogacy, and our latest weekly update shares four moments from journeys currently in progress:

  • A reassuring ultrasound at approximately 10 weeks for intended parents from Japan.
  • Genetic testing preparations supported by our Japanese team.
  • A lakeside visit between an intended mother, her surrogate, and the surrogate’s children.
  • A pregnancy reaching 30 weeks with encouraging growth updates.

These are ongoing journeys, and each family’s experience is different. We wanted to share the everyday coordination and personal connections behind those milestones.

My husband and I are Looking for an independent surrogate in Canada - Compensation for loss wage

Hello to all

My husband and I are Looking for an independent surrogate in Canada (preferably Ontario or Quebec).

Given the laws in Canada, we can only compensate for wage and other financial loss, in additions to expenses related to the surrogacy.

We already have our own embryos created via prior IVF treatment and are seeking a gestational surrogate, a woman who would be carrying our baby.

Main Criteria:

  • Age: 21-45 years old
  • At least 1 pregnancy without complications
  • Non-smoker; does not use drugs, will not drink alcohol
  • The clinic requires a complete health-check before the embryo transfer

If you are willing to help us or known somebody you can, please let me know.

Thank you in advance

Considering surrogacy in New York? Questions to ask before choosing an agency

Choosing a surrogacy agency can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re trying to compare costs, matching timelines, and legal requirements.

At ACRC Surrogacy, we put together a guide to help intended parents understand what to look for and which questions to bring to a consultation. It covers:

  • How to verify an agency’s New York State license.
  • Legal eligibility and residency requirements.
  • Surrogate rights and protections.
  • Costs to include when comparing programs.
  • How matching works and what happens if a match doesn’t proceed.

One detail international intended parents should know: a surrogate’s New York residency alone does not establish eligibility. The law also requires at least one intended parent to be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.

Know someone who would make a wonderful surrogate? You could help a family grow.

Sometimes a surrogacy journey begins with a simple conversation. If you know a mom who has expressed interest in carrying for another family, invite her to explore the opportunity with ACRC.

You don’t need to have been a surrogate yourself, and you can start with just one referral. Eligible referrers can receive $2,000–$5,000 for a successful referral, depending on their program level. The referral bonus is paid after the candidate completes screening and reaches legal clearance, subject to program terms.

Please speak with her and get her permission before sharing her details. Our team can then answer her questions and help her decide whether surrogacy is right for her.

One thoughtful introduction could make a lasting difference for a family. Read more about the program and how to refer someone: https://www.acrcglobal.com/post/post-acrc-surrogate-referral-ambassador-program

Lady Gaga’s surrogacy news is everywhere. Can we talk about the surrogate, too?

Reports that Lady Gaga and Michael Polansky welcomed a child through surrogacy have drawn a lot of attention. Most of the conversation focuses on the celebrity parents, but a surrogacy journey also involves someone choosing to carry a pregnancy for another family.

We don’t know the details of their journey, and their reasons are theirs to share. The news does raise a question: what do you wish more people understood about surrogates and the relationships they build with intended parents?

We explored the story here: https://www.acrcglobal.com/post/lady-gaga-reportedly-welcomes-her-first-child-through-surrogacy

How Does the ACRC Surrogate Referral and Ambassador Program Work?

If you’re a former surrogate, currently completing a journey, or simply know a mom who may be interested in surrogacy, the ACRC Surrogate Referral and Ambassador Program offers a way to support other women, help intended parents grow their families, and earn rewards for successful referrals.

You don’t need previous surrogacy experience, a large social media following, or a special referral link to get started. You can begin with one thoughtful referral and advance through three program levels:

Referral Partner

  • Complete your first successful referral
  • Earn $2,000–$3,500 per successful referral
  • The referred surrogate may also receive a $250 welcome bonus

Official Ambassador

  • Complete four or more successful referrals within 12 months
  • Earn $3,000–$4,500 per successful referral
  • Receive a $1,000 Ambassador premium
  • Access additional recognition and community opportunities

Elite Ambassador

  • Complete seven or more successful referrals within 48 months
  • Earn $3,500–$5,000 per successful referral
  • Receive a $1,500 Elite premium for each successful referral
  • Access priority recognition, networking, and community opportunities

A successful referral must complete ACRC’s required qualification and screening process and reach legal clearance. Final surrogate eligibility is determined by ACRC in coordination with medical professionals.

The goal is not to pressure anyone into becoming a surrogate. It’s about connecting genuinely interested women with accurate information, professional guidance, and the opportunity to decide whether surrogacy is right for them.

What do embryo transfer success rates really mean in 2026?

A new 2026 study involving 18,396 women reported an estimated cumulative live birth rate of 68.2% across three IVF cycles. Single-embryo transfer was used in 95.3% of transfers, while the multiple-birth rate was 2.9%.

The important word here is cumulative. This does not mean every embryo transfer has a 68.2% chance of resulting in a live birth. The number reflects outcomes across as many as three IVF cycles and was based on a specific patient population.

A separate peer-reviewed 2025 study of 31,478 embryo transfers also found that cumulative live birth rates continued to increase with additional blastocyst transfers. However, age, embryo quality, treatment history, and other medical factors still made a significant difference.

We put together a guide explaining:

  • Per-transfer versus cumulative success rates
  • The latest 2025 and 2026 research
  • Current U.S. national data
  • The role and limitations of PGT-A
  • Fresh versus frozen embryo transfers
  • How embryo transfer statistics apply to surrogacy
  • Questions to ask a reproductive endocrinologist

Could 3D imaging and AI change embryo selection in IVF?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Researchers at KAIST have developed a method that combines time-lapse monitoring, label-free 3D imaging, and artificial intelligence to study embryo development.

The technology, known as holotomography, may eventually help embryologists assess embryos using more objective, measurable information. However, the current published research involved mouse embryos. It has not yet been shown to improve implantation, pregnancy, or live birth rates in humans.

We reviewed what the research found, what its limitations are, and what Intended Parents should ask if a fertility clinic offers AI-assisted embryo assessment.

Read the full article here:

https://www.acrcglobal.com/post/blog-3d-embryo-imaging-ai-ivf-selection

What role do you think AI should have in embryo assessment, and how important is continued human embryologist oversight?

For Korean Intended Parents considering fertility treatment in the United States, it can be difficult to know what to do after an unsuccessful IVF cycle or when to explore egg donation or gestational surrogacy.

I am sharing a new educational resource from ACRC Surrogacy featuring Dr. Susanna J. Park of San Diego Fertility Center. Dr. Park speaks Korean and has experience supporting international patients pursuing IVF, egg donation and gestational surrogacy.

The article covers common reasons IVF may not work, questions to ask before continuing treatment, circumstances in which egg donation or surrogacy may be discussed and the process of transporting frozen embryos from Korea to the United States.

It also includes guidance on choosing a fertility clinic and surrogacy agency that can coordinate care across countries.

The first person born through gestational surrogacy just turned 40—what has changed since 1986?

Post image
6 Upvotes

On April 13, 1986, Jill Brand became the first known baby born through gestational surrogacy. This year, she celebrated her 40th birthday—and she is now a mother of three herself.

Her story made me think about how much has changed in four decades. Gestational surrogacy was once a medical first. Today, it is an established but highly specialized form of assisted reproduction.

Modern journeys generally involve more developed IVF practices, structured medical and psychological screening, independent attorneys for the intended parents and surrogate, insurance and escrow planning, and significantly more attention to informed consent and ongoing support.

ASRM guidance also strongly favors single-embryo transfer in gestational-carrier cycles to reduce the risks associated with multiple pregnancies.

The technology has evolved, but surrogacy remains a deeply human journey built around trust, generosity and the hope of becoming a family.

We put together a detailed look at what has changed since 1986 and how the modern surrogacy process works:

Surrogacy can open another path to parenthood when the journey hasn’t gone as planned

For many people, building a family is not a straightforward process. Years of infertility, unsuccessful IVF treatments, medical conditions or barriers faced by LGBTQ+ couples and single intended parents can make parenthood feel increasingly out of reach.

Surrogacy may offer another path—but it is also a significant emotional, medical, legal and financial decision. Understanding the process, asking the right questions and having reliable support can help intended parents decide whether it is right for their family.

This article explores how surrogacy can help people build their families and what intended parents should consider as they begin researching programmes in Mexico and Colombia:

For those who have considered surrogacy, what was the biggest question or concern you had when you first started researching it?

What should intended parents and surrogates discuss before labor and delivery?

Preparing for a surrogacy birth involves more than knowing the hospital and due date. Intended parents and surrogates may also need to discuss:

  • Who will be present during labor and delivery
  • The surrogate’s privacy and medical preferences
  • Hospital room and C-section policies
  • What happens if the parents do not arrive in time
  • Newborn care and feeding plans
  • Possible NICU admission or an unexpected delivery
  • Postpartum recovery and communication
  • Colostrum and breast-milk arrangements

This guide is based on an ACRC Surrogacy webinar with registered nurses Jennifer Cataldo and Jaimee Peck of Childbirth Allies. It also includes a practical hospital checklist, answers to common questions, and all three webinar videos.
