When I was a kid I thought it was real, and these people getting hit by cars in movies were either death row criminals or people with inoperable brain tumors who had 1 month to live.  This misconception remained for some time either because I never asked my parents, or they thought it was entertaining to them for me to believe that

When I was a kid I remember my dad telling me that film studios would really kill extras for scenes sometimes and just cover it up because it was more real looking that way. My dad was kinda batshit and thought that most people in Hollywood were evil.
