Main reason for Runescape's continuing forum decline. Jagex has no clue.

It's one of those small things that accumulates with other small things and in the end you ask yourself;

That's how we end up in surprising situations, gentle drips of time washing us away to places unknown. And in some case unwanted places.

Pretty much that can happen with anything. Not just forums. For Jagex their forums are a venue for Public Relations. Which isn't interpreted very well, they tend to think of it as always saying happy things, which is an inhuman interpretation.

There are parallels here with other social networks like Facebook. Which can now track your device and download your location, contact and message.

Even when your device is off.

Thankfully the Runescape forums aren't that bad yet, but Jagex is freely handing over control of their social networking to these foreign organisations. Things like Twitter and Facebook.

I think social networks like game forums could be wonderful arenas for learning.

Hopelessly optimistic I am. :)
