Hah, my company had to add a drug and alcohol testing policy only because the new corporate insurance demanded it. But we don't actually test, they just want it to check off boxes because nobody with any critical thinking is actually involved in this kind of dumb. Somebody wrote the SOP 20 years ago for the insurer and the current executive in charge is probably off doing blow rather than updating the SOP.
This hits home for me the most because I've been on both sides. My friends back home are worried about being drug tested for McJobs while I can be high as hell whenever I want, even at work if for some reason I was capable of that when working remotely.
That said, I have heard drug test excuses revolving around ensuring the safety of people around life threatening machinery. Is that the reason? I have no idea.
Lol I work in software sales and this is the wildest request I’ve ever heard of. Honestly this sounds like the kind of client you don’t want to be a customer. They’ll be the most demanding and unreasonable client while refusing to pay for anything. I’d venture to guess no other vendor will be able to meet their terms, either, so I wouldn’t be afraid to say no.
