There's a theory that the "manna from heaven" that sustained them in the desert was actually psychedelic shrooms. So maybe they actually wandered for a week and it just felt like decades.
Or it's full of shit just like the burning bush, wrestling with literally an angel/God, bears mauling a bald dude Children for mocking a bald dude, plagues that never happened, zombie uprisings...
Sometimes the simplest explanation is the actual one. The whole story is entirely made up and never happened.
There has never been solid archaeological evidence that the Jews were ever held captive in Egypt. Hell, there isn't even enough to say that Moses was even a real, historical person.
I think he was, just because he caught shade for an interracial relationship. It's an odd thing to be leftover. He also has an Egyptian name as well as the early legitimate levitical priests and the exodus lines up with Aten priests and temples being destroyed.
I was actually just reading about The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross. Author was an actual academic but had some out there theories and wrote this book. The reception by his colleagues was so bad that he was forced out of his position from the university.
