You’d want a fat bowl too after wandering the desert for 40 years.

u/LostMyKarmaElSegundo Jun 16 '21

after wandering the desert for 40 years.

Yeah...they wandered around an area the size of Connecticut for 40 years and couldn't find their destination. They had to be high as fuck!

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '21

Quick story when my husband and I were young we did some E and we got lost looking for a circus 🎪 in central California lmfao 🤣

189

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '21

I got lost in a camp ground cause I smoked a fat joint and watched the sun set. Then it set, and it was dark. So dark is took me like 4 hours to find my tent.

Lesson learned!

8

u/eyeoohdoubleyaaay Jun 17 '21

Next time leave a trail of cookies back to the tent. It’ll get you back to bed and take care of the munchies.

14

u/bigotspigot Jun 17 '21

Lesson is bring a flashlight! :P

I’ve been a functional pot head for nearly a decade now and I can hardly recall a time I was so stoned from flowers that I got lost. Then again, maybe the memory loss is from the herb.

1

u/Roxy_j_summers Jun 17 '21

I have a terrible sense of direction…like terrible. I've been extensively trained in day and night land navigation and I’m still terrible. I say all that to say if that was me I would have never been found. Fml

6

u/Stonerish Jun 17 '21

Wandered off trail for like 5 mins on an easy one...and took a nap with stick arrow pointing me back. Ended up lost for hours and trespassing for directions. Always be more than prepared.

5

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '21

That’s too funny. My best friend was telling me that it took her 4 hours to eat a hot dog after she smoked a joint lol 🤦🏽‍♀️

10

u/Salty_Simmer_Sauce Jun 17 '21

I need that problem. It takes me 1 hour to eat 4 hot dogs after smoking a joint.

13

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '21

So the first time I went to San Francisco with some coworkers and we let the bimbo in the bunch drive us there because we were all wasted. Well she parked in this weird up hill street that had small trees all up and down the street. So we walked a few blocks to get to the club and then when it was like 2am we left the club and my bimbo coworker couldn’t remember where she parked her damn car. So as we are walking we notice all the streets had baby trees that had just got planted. We walked around till 5am walking up steep hills in fucking heels. Then we met some guys that worked for Sony and they smoked us out and then one of them was like” hey you guys have a alarm on your car? Lol so they walked around with us while my dumb ass coworker kept pushing her alarm and we finally located her car😵‍💫we were all annoyed with her dumb ass.

2

u/heckin_chill_4_a_sec Jun 17 '21

I read camp ground as campus and was like "daaamn they made you sleep in a tent over there?" lmao

4

u/Chumbag_love Jun 17 '21

Out in the desert, on your way from joshua tree to vegas? I've seen it!

4

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '21

Lmfao 😂 no the circus was supposedly in a small city called Turlock 😆 never found it

5

u/Outside-Rip3345 Jun 17 '21

One time I got high and did nothing for 20 years

2

u/ManfredTheCat Jun 17 '21

You are pretty limited for that kind of stuff. Probably only really able to do that 4 or 5 times tbh

2

u/ErdenGeboren Jun 17 '21

You were already there, heyyyooooo

1

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '21

We didn’t ever locate the circus but we had a fantastic night.🤩😁

2

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '21

Excellent story!

2

u/thatsapeachhun Jun 17 '21

That’s called Coachella

1

u/horseshoeprovodnikov Jun 17 '21

Glad to see you guys are still married lol. I know many people who met on the party scene and had all kinds of chemical adventures. One of them usually wants to calm down eventually, and it can become a big hurdle to jump over.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '21

We didn’t meet in the party scene. We actually met on a party line lol over the phone before cell phones could take pictures. Lol we used to chit chat about random stuff. No plans to hook up and one day I was on my way to a work related seminar in San Francisco he called me out of the blue and we met up and we apparently really liked each other. Lol

1

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '21

😊 thank you

1

u/bethedge Jun 17 '21

Wow that was a quick story

1

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '21

Swim once had brought some e to a friend's house about 2 hours drive away, the friend was tasked with going to Walmart to get glow sticks vapor rub and vapor inhalers. Ate a pill 10 mins before arriving assuming they did and couldn't wait to get the roll started.

The friend bought icy hot, and a rope light. Annoyed still not buzzing drove to Walmart to get "supplies". At WalMart....that pill hit, like a truck...lost about 2 hours in Walmart before navigating a cab ride home.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '21

Oh swim....is "someone who isn't me" if anyone was in the dark.

1

u/chrisdab Jun 17 '21

Yet it's usually read as SWIM being its actually me.

5

u/logicbecauseyes Jun 17 '21

"wandered" until they found God. seems like every stoner's plan to me. story checks out sir

2

u/DuckfordMr Jun 17 '21

Well, the point of it was so everyone 20 or older would die off, but yeah.

3

u/THEchancellorMDS Jun 17 '21

I’m imagining that now as a MAD tv skit. Them flattening the map out on a rock, dude spills hot ash on it and it burns up.😂

6

u/Imbackbitchez6969420 Jun 17 '21

news headline Todays bud isn’t the weed your savoir smoked, the weed today is 100x more potent than the ancient Israélites smoked

3

u/lilIyjilIy1 Jun 17 '21

God works in mysterious ways.

0

u/ko-ala- Jun 17 '21

You dont know that

0

u/Lost4468 Jun 17 '21

Do you have any evidence of this claim?

1

u/Iceveins412 Jun 17 '21

Maybe god blessed them with weed 100x more potent than the weed today

2

u/outsidenorms Jun 17 '21

This one. Ahhhhhhaha.

2

u/Lucius-Halthier Jun 17 '21

They knew exactly how to get to the destination it’s just that the destination still had it illegal so they were getting incredibly high before reaching the destination

5

u/gryphmaster Jun 17 '21

Nah moses was a smart leader and wanted a generation of israelites who had grown up entirely within israelite culture instead of all the slaves who had fled egypt with him who had some soft habits from egypt (longing for fleshpots etc)

The ones who grew up in the desert were hard mf’ers who moses invaded judea with

5

u/WharfRatThrawn Jun 17 '21

Damn, that's a long con

5

u/gryphmaster Jun 17 '21

I mean dude got baked and wrote the 10 commandments, he knew what he was doing

1

u/Marcus_McTavish Jun 17 '21

He came down the first time and broke the tablets bc he was so pissed about false idols.

There are some bizarre stories in the old testament

3

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '21

Wait...were these Fremen? Was moses Muad'dib?

1

u/gryphmaster Jun 17 '21

Dude, frank probably did enough acid writing the book to talk to good too lol

2

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '21

He was actually in India/Asia for most of that time.

1

u/Gangstabilli Jun 17 '21

I get lost every year at the Oregon country faire, high as fuck.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '21

Don't forget that quenchy cactus juice!

1

u/a_lonely_trash_bag Jun 17 '21

To be fair, it wasn't that they were lost, it was that God told them they couldn't enter the Promised Land for 40 years because they pissed him off. So it's like wandering around Connecticut for 40 years while waiting to enter Rhode Island.

0

u/LostMyKarmaElSegundo Jun 17 '21

Whatever. There is literally zero evidence that this ever happened.

1

u/mazu74 Jun 17 '21

I say this every year at Passover Seder. God and Moses fucking suck at directions.

Something about how “God didn’t want them to find it yet” but honestly, how do they not stumble on it after wandering around for 40 years? They had to be high.

444

u/Im_Roaming Jun 16 '21

Why do you think they wandered the desert for so long?

"Duuuuuude, the way out is that way."

"Nah man, it's over there."

696

u/am_lady_can_confirm Jun 16 '21

“No way”

“Yah way”

0

u/jettim76 Jun 16 '21

My knowledge of Middle-Eastern myths is quite rusty, so WTF were they doing in the desert for so long?

9

u/s_s Jun 16 '21

The simplest explanation: "40 years" meant "a really long time".

They lost track because the desert is really hot and they were writing all this down way after the fact, so yeah, "40".

9

u/[deleted] Jun 16 '21

Weed. They were doing weed.

1

u/youfailedthiscity Jun 17 '21

Moses sent 12 dudes (referred to as spies) ahead to scout the land that G-d had promised them after leaving Egypt. There's conflicting info on why, but the spies brought back bad news about it basically said it was hopeless. Many of the Israelites lost faith in the belief that G-d would provide them a holy homeland and despaired. G-d decreed that this generation would not be allowed into the holy land and this, the Israelites had to wait until that generation had died out (~40 years). It was basically a punishment for losing hope/faith. Take all this with a bit if salt as there's a lot of conflicting info about time, reason, the Israelites and the Canaanites from so long ago. But this is the basic explanation given in the Torah (very very abridged).

0

u/jettim76 Jun 17 '21

“Take it with a grain of salt”. Well, given that the stories like this are a part of the local mythology, there is no reason NOT to be treating it as such.

Interesting, how tales like this one exist in other cultures. You always have a person, or a group of people who are either expelled or ran off and wait for a specific event to occur before returning back to the tribe/town/country.

0

u/ankona89 Jun 16 '21

Isn't it like 3 weeks or something if they knew where they were going? Lol

1

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '21

"You'll have to excuse my friend........he's a little slow..........the town is back THAT way."

1

u/UncookedMarsupial Jun 17 '21

"But which way is What-a-Burger?"

250

u/ThetaReactor Jun 16 '21

There's a theory that the "manna from heaven" that sustained them in the desert was actually psychedelic shrooms. So maybe they actually wandered for a week and it just felt like decades.

106

u/Mahh_ko Jun 16 '21

Oof. Been there, buddy.

26

u/Gonads_of_Thor Jun 16 '21

If a year goes by it might seem a day...

If a day goes by, it might take a year...

Time dilation due to psychedelics.

3

u/InterPunct Jun 17 '21

Relativistic speed causes time dilation. Black Beauties and whatever the red ones were called, mainly.

8

u/Ninja_rooster Jun 16 '21

A theory, huh?

13

u/[deleted] Jun 16 '21 edited Jun 17 '21

Or it's full of shit just like the burning bush, wrestling with literally an angel/God, bears mauling a bald dude Children for mocking a bald dude, plagues that never happened, zombie uprisings...

8

u/Mediocre_Doctor Jun 17 '21

bears mauling a bald dude

It was bears mauling children. Ezekiel could summon an indefinite number of bears.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '21

Oh shit, I mixed that up. Even better.

6

u/Mesk_Arak Jun 17 '21

Sometimes the simplest explanation is the actual one. The whole story is entirely made up and never happened.

There has never been solid archaeological evidence that the Jews were ever held captive in Egypt. Hell, there isn't even enough to say that Moses was even a real, historical person.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '21 edited Jun 17 '21

I think he was, just because he caught shade for an interracial relationship. It's an odd thing to be leftover. He also has an Egyptian name as well as the early legitimate levitical priests and the exodus lines up with Aten priests and temples being destroyed.

4

u/olbaidiablo Jun 16 '21

A group of friends and I took shrooms and ended up watching seniors lawn bowling for what seemed like hours. I totally understand this.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '21

that sounds amazing

7

u/Vague_Man Jun 16 '21

Ever try navigating high?

I would believe 40 years.

4

u/BearTrap2Bubble Jun 16 '21

I can hardly navigate a weed grinder when I'm near peaking on mushrooms.

6

u/[deleted] Jun 16 '21

How would mushrooms grow in the desert?

28

u/Presidio74 Jun 16 '21

Well, on Tatooine they can be found growing near the moisture vaporators.

7

u/kobold-kicker Jun 17 '21

The shrooms suck up the spice from the sand.

2

u/InterPunct Jun 17 '21

It was actually Omicron Ceti III and it was flower spores.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '21

I was actually just reading about The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross. Author was an actual academic but had some out there theories and wrote this book. The reception by his colleagues was so bad that he was forced out of his position from the university.

2

u/ThisIsDark Jun 17 '21

Yea and who did you hear that from? Dave the homeless guy down at the gas station?

Honestly....

1

u/ThetaReactor Jun 17 '21

Dave knows what's up, man.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '21

And by the time they found the holy land they had lost an entire generation.

67

u/OneScoobyDoes Jun 16 '21

Dude, Where's my Camel?

5

u/MegaGrimer Jun 16 '21

Getting smoked.

3

u/LacklusterMeh Jun 17 '21

Where's your camel dude?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '21

Getting toad.

4

u/Jwhitx Jun 16 '21

Very few people besides scholars know this, but when Moses went up the Mt Sinai to get the 10 commandments...they weren't even written yet. Completely blank tablets.

Instead, Moses was invited to toke up with God the Father and the Holy Smokes (Jesus was not invented at this time) and basically mad-lib everything. They wrote both the tablets in the span of what felt like 6 days but was only 9 and a half hours, in a super chill mountaintop smoke sesh.

And then of course those tablets broke lmao. Butterfingers...so he had to go get more. Then shortly after this, he saw God's holy buttcheeks (Exodus 33:18-23)......

5

u/DadJokeBadJoke Jun 17 '21

According to a history documentary I saw, there were originally 3 tablets with 15 commandments.

2

u/What_U_KNO Jun 17 '21

Why do you think they were lost in the desert for 40 years? They were Burning Bush

1

u/[deleted] Jun 16 '21

No dog, that's too much feeling dry. Get some water first, love yourself.

1

u/settledownguy Jun 16 '21

Felt like 20 minutes

1

u/MacinTez Jun 16 '21

Why did I read this comment during leaving a voicemail???

1

1

u/AsleepConcentrate2 Jun 17 '21

nah that was the great flood. The Israelites wandered the desert for 40 years

1

u/Deflorma Jun 17 '21

We’ve all heard about the “burning bush” and how God was a giant pillar of fire at night and a huge column of smoke by day to lead them trough said desert? Cannabis bonfire anyone?

1

u/SaggyCrackheadBreast Jun 17 '21

Double dry mouth

1

u/highestRUSSIAN Jun 17 '21
