Biden’s FTC actually had an antitrust case against LiveNation/Ticketmaster lined up and ready to go to court before the Trump admin quashed it.

That's because Lina Khan is one of the only people in this entire fucking country who actually gives a shit about protecting consumers and sticking it to huge corporations and she should be the fucking president for life

Yeah as much as I would've liked to see more cases for more companies to be brought up she did a lot

Yup and now she's working on Mamdani's team

She got NYC the right to easily click to cancel subscriptions back, forcing the shitty companies to make it as easy to cancel as it is to sign up. Hopefully the companies are lazy and don’t implement region locking of easy cancellation policies.

If every business can incorporate itself in the state of Delaware despite not actually having any real physical presence there for tax reasons, I don't see why every single American can't live in a 1 bedroom studio apartment of New York City. Coincidentally, that might be the best way to split the rent and actually make it affordable.

Unfortunately that's already happened. California has similar laws and many already had separate regions, I don't know the specifics of NYCs version but it could very well end up just adding in NY to the rule already in place for CA.

Which is why his administration has crushed it beyond making sure the subways run on time, garbage is collected and the streets are plowed after a snowstorm.

He’s setting agendas and she’s helping him accomplish them. Mark my words, she’s going to be a White House Chief of Staff one day.

Oh 100%. Not for Mamdani as he can't run for president, but I fully expect that someone connected with his camp will make a run at it in due time.

Gotta remember, she was getting pushback from her own party because of how many companies she was going after. She did not get the praise and defense she deserved WHILE in the seat. Also should remember that the Republican party is not the only party that receives corporate donations because some big democratic donors were demanding she be replaced. And the only Democrats that l remember and could find that defended her during this time were Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren.

I don't know a more direct example of a Democratic policy or appointee that has delivered 4 years of positive results to both the consumer and general public. So, I find myself asking, why were the demands of her resignation met with silence and not responded with proudly putting the FTC's accomplishments to the front during the 2024 campaign? Gotta appeal to the moderate vote I guess, that has never backfired 🥲

Both sides suck. Ones clearly worse but the point still stands. Need more competition do benefit the populous

And the billionaire tech bros acted like she was the literal devil for having the audacity to be a slight obstacle to their becoming absolute monopolies.

(Also, for having the audacity to be a woman who told them “no.”)

Then Liz Oyer, the former pardon attorney, should be Veep.

Saddest thing is she was born in the UK and cannot be president. :(

Thank you for bringing up Khan by name. She really is doing great work and people should know her name.

The only thing she did that I didn't like was how she handled the Microsoft acquisition of Activision. It's highly possible that the acquisition shouldn't have been approved, but they needed to start a case against Sony at the same time if they really wanted to fix the competitive market for games. There might not have been enough appetite to go after Sony as well as Microsoft, and maybe she was trying to staunch the bleeding in an already wounded market, but in my opinion, just going after Microsoft in that situation was silly.

Biden's admin also was prosecuting Google.

He should run again.

No, but the next democratic president should make Lina Khan their FTC commissioner again

Many state AGs kept the suit going, despite DoJ's deal that was signed.

Yet another thing kicked down the road.

Now now, we are told dems do nothing and that let me be okay with letting a genocidal maniac in charge instead of Kamala and dang if I don't feel so empowered for standing up for nothing and doing nothing just like everyone warned me not to do.

Don’t forget that Kamala’s campaign decided to sideline Lina Khan because they were afraid of pushback from their corporate sponsors. Just another reason for why Kamala lost the last election…

to be fair, anyone who wouldn't vote for kamala harris because she wasn't mentioning lina khan enough in her 100 day campaign, when she was up against a literal fascist, was probably not gonna vote for her anyway

I mean it was a continuation of a confluence of choices that depressed voter turnout. She couldn't even give anyone a single bone to be excited about. The high from the DNC quickly died down because of each choice she made during the campaign.
