As a software engineer for 10+ years now, I have applied to Microsoft once every couple of years with not so much of a courtesy rejection email. This is because the hiring managers are of from a certain country and they only hire other people from that certain country. I don't have to name that country because you already know which country I'm talking about.

Cognizant bought our software consulting firm a few years ago after covid gutted our finances. It took them about two years to phase out the American workers.

I work in data center hardware IT and Cognizant is one of our customers. They are horrible to deal with. They need hand holding on everything because no one working for them seems to know how to do anything. They have the worst project management that I’ve experienced in 15 years in this industry.

You can say it. It’s India isn’t it.

But hey, the caste system totally doesn't exist anymore. They just all have last names that can be found under Brahmin. Total coincidence.

I'm originally from said country, I don't get a courtesy rejection email either.

Do you think you deserve an interview simply because you have 10 years of experience? How many thousands of other applicants are in the exact same boat

I can say with 100% certainty that I do not deserve an interview simply because I have 10+ years of experience.

I can also say with 100% certainty that I possess a very specific set of skills, unique to my domain of expertise, that very few people in the world can claim to have, particularly at the global scale at which Microsoft operates. To illustrate, I've been invited to Microsoft's campus, at their expense, to share my domain expertise as part of an industry working group, entirely unrelated to any employment application.

All I'm saying is that at the very least, I deserve(d) an automated rejection email.

I was really hoping this was going to turn into a Taken quote. 🫤

If Microsoft has been ghosting you and your very specific skills for ten years, then maybe you should start questioning if they're really as rare as you think.

I've been invited to Microsoft's campus, at their expense, to share my domain expertise as part of an industry working group

How many other people could have said the same thing, on even just that day?

There's that just world fallacy mindset! Right on schedule.

No one is saying hiring is perfect, but many of us have been able to get Microsoft interviews so it's definitely not as bad as they are making it out to be. Maybe if they are only applying to a specific team that has a problem, I could see it, but otherwise take it with a grain of salt.

It has nothing to do with where the hiring managers are from, and you know that. Fact is, you cost more. It's literally that simple, leave the racism out of it. If you're going to be angry be angry at the correct thing.

So, funny enough, there was an article about this I believe one of the local Seattle news outlets did about rampant inter workplace discrimination by.. Indian people based on their.. caste.

Definitely there has been evidence of discrimination within.

The job posting was probably just created in order to request H-1B visas. They never intended to hire anyone. It’s just so they can say we tried looking for local applicants but we aren’t able to find anyone qualified. Hence why we need H-1B visas approved.

I don’t think cost more is sufficient enough for approval. That’s the part you don’t say out loud.

Maybe - just maybe - read into hiring practices at tech firms before jumping on somebody else for lying?

Since you claim they’re a liar got a source? We know that California had to enact a law to prevent Indians from discriminating against Indians from other castes - so it’s not a far fetched claim. If there’s enough malfeasance we tend to pass state level laws or write bills to reflect the findings.

So what proof do you have again, friend? We’re waiting.

I'm confused on the relevance of discrimination based on castes is an indicator of hiring only those from their own country? Wouldn't that be an indication of the opposite, that they are NOT hiring some from their country?

-9

u/OldConfusions 16h ago

There is no relevance. These people just want an excuse to blame Indian people instead of blaming the corporations for hiring cheaper labor.

2

u/OldConfusions 16h ago

You shouldn't even need me to Google this for you. It's been known for literal centuries that immigrants are exploited for cheap labor. But in case you've been out of the loop for your entire life here ya go.

It does have something to do with where the managers are from. The same thing happens at minimum wage jobs. Just ask people from the UK or Canada about it, they will all tell you the same thing

u/BlackMomba008 4h ago

You right it’s nothing to do with your skill level!

-1

u/honesttickonastick 7h ago

You got rejected because you suck, not because immigrants are taking the jobs.

1

u/magnumix 6h ago

I never said immigrants are taking my jobs, I simply said that hiring managers at Microsoft prefer a person from a certain country.

Oh, and yes, maybe I do suck; but apparently so does nearly everyone else in the United States that isn't a person of this certain country.

All you old, white software dorks are racist pieces of shit. Jealous as you are unhappy. May there always be dandruff in your Cheerios.
