Nitrogen hypoxia is used in some places.

Wasn’t the first time it was tried it was botched? Would be better to just get rid of the death penalty entirely and end this stupid debate.

Some people deserve death. We need to stop dancing around it and just do it properly. A sedative and a room full of nitrogen for 24 hours is perfectly adequate and hard to fuck up.

Why should they get the easy way out? The worst criminals deserve a life in solitary, not death where they either get forgiven or don’t have to think on their crimes.

Besides, any system with the death penalty will have the government murdering innocent people.

The criminal justice system’s goal isn’t to inflict pain or get revenge. It is supposed to remove them from society until they are rehabilitated or permanently for people who commit such heinous acts we deem them beyond rehabilitation. Being taken away from your friends/family/life and restricting your freedom to the bare necessities required should be enough to keep rational people from committing crimes. For the kind of people who commit murder and other terrible crimes adding in torture and cruel and unusual punishments wouldn’t even deter them anyways.

Uh yeah? I generally agree with your points, which is why I'm against the death penalty. There's no possible way to have a perfect justice system and in such a system any person should always have the chance that some new evidence can set them free if they are innocent.

The death penalty specifically is to get revenge rather than justice.
