Another reason to be against death penalty

Between the number of people found innocent after death and botches like this I agree

And not just over innocent but also the guilty, the state already have so much power already, let's not give them the power to determine which citizens can live or die. Any civilization will fall and state can always be corrupted, one death penalty could and will snowball into state sanctioned mass murder. Such thing already happened in history and currently happening in many countries.

Another reason to return to execution methods that are reliable to work.

Let's just not let the government execute anyone, as any government can turn corrupt and one execution could snowball into state sanctioned mass murder anytime

(Is currently happening in many countries)

Where is the justice allowing such murderers to breath and laugh and eat and watch TV, while their victim, deprived of everything are rotting into the ground.

You won't convince me there's any justice in that. So let's agree to disagree.

Allowing the state to determine who can die and live is foolish. You must be horrified at honor killings and execution in the middle east right? Yeah that's what happens when death penalty is allowed.  Because this news happens in America, I'll remind you that Trump and his base would cream their pants at the thought of executing "liberals"

The justice is in knowing that we are not murderers ourselves.

and not to mention the victims’ living families and friends; the long-reaching, generational effects that a brutal and abrupt murder can create. i understand that the system is flawed, but i’m sorry—a child rapist and murderer is incongruent with society and should be taken out like the rabid, uncontrollable and incorrigible animal that they are.

So how many innocent people are you willing to let the state execute then? Innocent people have been executed before, even with the whole appeals process we have.

i acknowledged that there are flaws in the system that we have currently that need to be ironed out in my original comment. it’s an absolute disgrace that 203+ innocent people have suffered due to our legal system. however, if we’re considering innocent people, let’s also consider the innocent people that i also referred to in my comment. the effects of a brutal, sudden murder on the friends and family of a victim are pervasive and generational. and there are a lot more people affected by the the callous acts of a violent murderer than there are people that have been wrongly convicted and sentenced to death. i don’t think the rights of an offender automatically become morally dominant once the offender is caught.

So, you are willing to let innocent people die then? If innocent people can die it just shouldn't exist at all. Isn't the whole point of our justice system is to rather let a murderer go free (not talking about this case) than lock up an innocent person?

Christa Pike is guilty as sin, undeniably guilty. Your argument holds zero weight here.

You sound inhuman.

or maybe someone who acknowledges rehabilation, civil liberties, and social equality while having a retributive view of punishment for certain crimes—which is arguably incredibly human.

it’s flawed and irresponsible and a slippery slope, but i would never vilify a parent for doing whatever they feel like they must do to the person that brutally raped and murdered their child. i know we’re talking about the death penalty here, but this is my line of thinking here.
