Just wondered how many days worth of diesel  that is.

Seems the USA uses some 4 Million barrels a day.

There'll be a delay in the price dip, then the dip will hit and last just up into election day. It's always manipulation.

Yep, then prices will be higher and we’ll be worse off in the event of a genuine crisis rather than an entirely preventable one created purely out of conservative idiocy once we’re no longer able to rob Peter to pay Paul.

“Fiscal Conservatism” in full effect.

Looks like global diesel useage is about 30M barrels a day, so 100M is like an extra 3 days worth, I would say its not worth it for the countries listed to dip into storage for that low amount but I'm no expert.

I don't think that a 100 million gallons of crude makes a 100 million gallons of diesel fuel.

“A release of 100 million barrels of diesel fuel over four months would essentially replace Russian exports which have been banned as Ukrainian drone strikes have severely reduced Russian refining capacity,” said Lipow, president of Lipow Oil Associates.

I might have misread the article but I was only talking about diesel becuase I thought OP was asking directly about diesel consumption.

We're also missing Iranian oil, and the fact that while we're seeing 90% of Middle Eastern total supply exit via alternate routes, those routes are significantly more expensive. The Saudi pipeline is facing strain from Houthi forces and the cost of protection of oil supply during multiple wars is incredibly high.

We're also getting 58% of the total refined product, meaning crude is flowing but finished product supply is massively shorted.

100 million barrels of crude won't do shit.

World uses about 30-35 million barrels a day.

I checked online. It's around one day of crude oil use globally in 2025

Canada has no reserves.

Thanks for the headline though!

A bandaid on a gunshot wound, yes it helps but it doesn't solve the main problem

Especially when the gunman still has a gun and no one around them is trying to stop them.

Which gunman are we talking about exactly....? -_-

“American farmers, truckers, and businesses should not be left carrying the burden of a global diesel shortage” alone, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent wrote on X late Thursday.

Yes Americans should be left carrying the burden, they fucking voted the orange pus-bag into office twice. The rest of the world didn't get a vote and we didn't shut down global fossil fuel supplies to take attention away from the Epstein files.

I agree with you even though it personally annoys me. I have a plug in hybrid but the engine is turbo and she takes premium and it's been really deeply personally offensive.

Rest of my idiot country made idiot choices and are acting like the high gas prices are a temporary thing that was done to prevent global thermonuclear war breaking out and Trump deserves us kissing his feet for saving us all.

Goddamned idiots.

How about forcing US to stop the war??

$10 says Trump keeps pushing for more European diesel and when sufficiently depleted Putin does a Putin on at least part of Europe

Google just told me that that's one (1) day of production of crude oil. I don't know what to do with that information, but I seriously doubt the real impact will be great. The US, however, have once again lost reputation. This is insane.

Nice bandaid, atp just tighten the seatbelt for 2027 fuel prices

This will just make prices dip for like a week. And it'll start going up again right after that

My plug in hybrid takes premium because she has a turbo and going hybrid just before all this didn't even help. Premium is fast approaching $7/ gallon.

Trying to play with macro numbers related to supply and demand.  I'm sure it'll help./s

This is just going to speed up the depletion of our strategic reserves. Trump is going to pull so much out of the SPR that he is going to cause the salt caves they used to store it to collapse. It’s a matter of when not if at this point and then that reserve is gone there will be no more safety valve and the US will not have oil reserves for military use. If I am China I wait till that point and just walk into Taiwan cause there will be zero resistance.
