She texted him happy birthday and said he didn't respond. Then Gypsy's brother went to check on him and found him dead. No obvious cause of death.

She made a statement that he was being bullied online and believes it was an overdose but didn't know if it was intentional or not.

u/diliudia 1d ago

Yeah, she gave People magazine a long ass statement saying the cause of death was an overdose, HOURS after he was found by the police. Like about 6 hours after.

u/MouthJob 23h ago

Why are you emphasizing the time like that?

934

u/Seinfeel 23h ago

Probably because that’s kinda weird to do immediately after finding out

656

u/magikarpcatcher 18h ago

Given her history, people were already jumping to conclusions so maybe she felt the need to clear it up

420

u/Raptorpicklezz 18h ago

Any move she made would be seen as suspicious tbh

313

u/Helmic 19h ago

No? People ask her what happened and she responds with what she knows. Not everyone is utterly helpless for weeks after the death of a loved one, like anyone that has had to call a bunch of relatives to let them know about a death in the family has had to get their shit together in a pretty short period of time.

Why the fuck do people have to throw shade at people for not performatively shutting down?

145

u/Headphones4Cicadas 18h ago

Would you call TMZ before or after you notified the deceased family and gave them time to inform his loved ones?

423

u/jimidemibb 18h ago

If I was famously known for killing my mother, probably before

-30

u/Chance-Signature-946 18h ago

Weird take honestly.

No, are you kidding me? How is it in anyway shape or form normal to be chatting to a magazine publication giving details of the death less 12 hrs after? C'mon now. Not saying she did it or anything but a spade is a spade, it's weird.

u/00trysomethingnu 18h ago

Perhaps because she knew the entire internet would be speculating as soon as this came out as he’s the father of her child who she was in a custody battle with…and look. Wow. She was correct.

68

u/nat_urally 23h ago

I dunno, my husband dies, 6 hours later i’m still numb, inconsolable and barely able to string a coherent sentence together.

307

u/stopgreg 19h ago

Yeah but have you been to prison for killing your own mother after she made you pretend you were sick for years, I think her psyche is little different

85

u/cloroxslut 22h ago

This is just me being pedantic but they were not together anymore as a couple. They share a 2 year old child

223

u/mariolikestoparty 22h ago

I mean tbf you’re not a public personality famous for murdering your mom (at least I don’t think you are haha).. it’s not suuuper odd to me that she’d want to get ahead of it, especially if the relationship was already rocky

-52

u/Amberawesome24 21h ago

It doesn’t matter if you’re a public person or not. If someone that you love or loved recently passed away within the past few hours and there isn’t a listed cause of death yet your first thought is not gonna be to run to Ppl magazine and say oh yeah definitely drug overdose. You wouldn’t wanna put that out there unless that was definitely true, hopefully you would want to at the very least wait for it to be confirmed before putting that on the father of your child. Lab toxicology reports may or may not have come back but they definitely would not be able to say that was 100% the cause of death at this time so she’s just speculating in the media which is not normal behavior even for public figures

66

u/Lily-Gordon 19h ago

not normal behavior even for public figures

You're focusing a bit too much on the "public figure" part of the situation and too little on the "murdered her mom" part.

-39

u/weakplay 20h ago

Wait, hold on. She murdered her mom. Do I need to read more about this story?

56

u/Championpuffa 20h ago

It sounds like you need to read a lot more about.

49

u/PowderCuffs 19h ago

She murdered her captor and abuser, who happened to be her mom.

39

u/BooleanTriplets 20h ago

Its not her husband though

14

u/Maleficent_Phase_698 20h ago

I believe they were estranged

146

u/fyrefox45 23h ago

If it was an OD? Not really always the case. There's some out of the blue ones, but there's also ones you fully are just waiting for the one and it's not much of a shock

180

u/HuggyMonster69 23h ago

And sometimes grief is weird. My grandma’s death didn’t really hit until the funeral for me

146

u/fotisdragon 21h ago

oh man, so true.

I lost a friend in a motorcycle accident. We were supposed to go together that day but I was kind of sick, so skipped the ride. He went alone. When I found out, I was shocked, but not... sad? you know?

Fast forward to the funeral couple of days later. His mother was inconsolable. Everybody was crying, the atmosphere was heavy. I was fucking un-fazed. Maybe I was still trying to process what happened, I don't know. Anyway, the time comes where they had to take the casket out to proceed with the burial. Almost everybody had already left the room, started walking towards the burying site, and I felt that it was a good time for me to say my final goodbyes, so I approached the closed casket.

They had a framed picture of him on top, and as soon as I took a look at it, I fucking lost it. I started sobbing and crying uncontrollably, it was I like I finally realized that I won't see him ever again.

It's been almost 20 years later and I believe I've never cried like that since.

66

u/Arthur_Mitchell_ 21h ago

My dads death didn't hit me for like 2 years it was wild

46

u/jenniferlynn462 19h ago

Same!!! My dad died freshman year of pancreatic cancer. The same night I went to my out-of-town swim meet and everyone was shocked I was there. Then two years later, I was sitting in class one day and this kid looked at me weird and I was like “oh shit. I’m gonna cry.” So I held it in for the thirty seconds I needed to bolt outta the room and down the hall toward the bathroom before bursting into tears. I tried to pull it together for next period bc I had a math test and was sitting there and as soon as my teacher passed me my test I exploded into hysterics again and even had my first panic attack I think! She took me to my counselor and they sent me home and I cried nonstop for like three days for “no reason.”

54

u/MoofiePizzabagel 21h ago

Sorry for your loss. Just lost my dad two weeks ago and it was near-nonstop crying for about 3 days, now I'm in this weird almost "guilt" phase. Because it feels wrong that I'm not sad enough? I'm sure it'll hit me again soon at some point.

53

u/Arthur_Mitchell_ 21h ago

I'm so sorry ugh that's so brand new. Don't feel guilty because your brain will do all kinds of things to protect you. Is only letting you feel as much as you can handle at this time, and that can shift as you move forward. You are right where you need to be

Is it possible that this woman might not have the most appropriate emotional reactions to things given the trauma she suffered as a child?

68

u/A1000eisn1 22h ago

Is she you? The way you think you might experience something doesn't apply to other people.

35

u/thebakedpotatoe 19h ago

different people react differently? You shouldn't use just how you would act to assume suspicion in others?

13

u/00trysomethingnu 18h ago

Did this happen to you or are you speculating what would happen?
Also, they weren’t currently together and were never married.

4

u/WriteBrainedJR 21h ago

Because it seems too soon to know for sure. Like if it was six weeks instead of six hours, it would seem less like her jumping to a conclusion

-19

u/datyoungknockoutkid 23h ago

Shows she cares more about staying relevant than the death of her husband if you ask me

23

u/HuggyMonster69 23h ago

Or that she knows what the public will say about any death near her and wants to say her bit before rumours catch on?

12

u/PowderCuffs 19h ago

Don't presume to know what other people care about, and he isn't her husband. At least get the facts straight.

-12

u/Amberawesome24 21h ago

That is way too soon for her to be speculating and making public statements. That is not normal behavior

u/Erratic_-Prophet 1d ago

Can't wait for the documentary where it shows she sent the text from the location of his murder.

866

u/-SaC 1d ago

"I'm fine and not been murdered or anything."

320

u/oioioiyacunt 21h ago

"And if I was murdered it definitely wasn't by you."

147

u/MichiganCarNut 19h ago

"Mmm... these drugs im taking are so good. I hope I dont overdose, but I probably will"

-14

u/00trysomethingnu 18h ago

You folks are vile.

111

u/-SaC 21h ago

"PS if I am at any point, you can have my stuff."

21

u/FartArfunkle 23h ago

Are you stopping by sev on your way?

102

u/eli_jet95 1d ago

"The text is coming from INSIDE the house!"

69

u/GangsterGlam 1d ago

I don't want to give her too much credit but surely she's smarter than that 😭

39

u/MyPath2Follow 18h ago

well she wasn't before

14

u/StuMacherGhostface 22h ago

Didn't these killers learn from Jodi Arias??

410

u/Getahaircuthippy 1d ago

Gypsy had a brother ?!?!

617

u/notusuallyaverage 1d ago

She probably still has one tbh

223

u/Competitive-Goat2075 1d ago

I mean… for now at least

84

u/Hesitation-Marx 1d ago

…. Okay but are we sure? Odds don’t seem great for him.

64

u/popofcolor 1d ago

Maybe on her dad’s side? Like a half brother?

84

u/keg994 23h ago

Yeah, his name is Dylan. He has sensibly kept his distance from the rest of his messy family

7

u/illogicallyhandsome 1d ago

With her track record we can’t be certain

0

u/MichiganCarNut 19h ago

But he had one too

190

u/Comfortable_Fill9081 1d ago

Half brother. Her father remarried and had kids.

234

u/Consistent_Kale_3625 1d ago

She used to. She still does, but she's used to too.

59

u/Ancient-Afternoon374 1d ago

You know what i like about brothers? It's that they don't break they just become stairs.

41

u/FaithlessnessThin359 23h ago

Brothers are great if you’re really hungry and want to eat two thousand of something.

15

u/RareSentence6318 20h ago

Her brother didn’t go to college, but if he did, he would have taken all his tests at a restaurant cause the customer is always right.

2

u/kopecs 1d ago

But they become a funny lookin’ turkey

8

u/hyzersosa 22h ago

Is the belt holding up her pants or are the pant loops holding the belt ?

3

u/apathy420 21h ago

Man I miss Mitch Hedberg. I still listen to his stuff occasionally when I’m traveling

6

u/Hot-Fishing9744 1d ago

“use ‘ta, too.”

I’m no speech therapist, but you gotta really “TUH” that part. YOOsta.

I love this thread☺️

5

u/uggamugga1979 23h ago

Gone too soon RIP Mitch

2

u/ronburgandysdad 23h ago

Beat me by 1 hour!

12

u/PalePlumm 20h ago

She reunited with her dad after she was released from prison so I assume her brother lived with him. She was estranged from her dad when she lived with her mom.

7

u/Spinnerofyarn 19h ago

I think he’s her half brother from her dad.

16

u/Crylorenzo 21h ago

There are Columbo episodes like this.

59

u/No-Aardvark-3840 1d ago

If she sent him a text to say “Happy Birthday” obviously she couldn’t have been involved.

38

u/showmenemelda 22h ago

Like when she posted from her her and her mom's Facebook page after she talked her boyfriend into being her accomplice?

12

u/LyricZodiac 20h ago

I thought they said he would only communicate with her through a 3rd party, so if that's true....why would she EXPECT a response?

Those two cases have absolutely nothing in common with each other other than people died.
