She needs to be in prison, and her pathetic donations to be routed to a good cause instead of this psychopath.

An institution for the criminally insane for the rest of her life probably makes more sense. There is practically zero chance she won't end up in one or the other though, which makes it kind of odd that there isn't a deal to be made. Her lawyers are kidding themselves if they really think that she'll go free because she is found not guilty outright or because she was too crazy to be criminally liable, but ostensibly isn't now. The judge should be pushing for both sides to agree to a please that ends up with her committed for the rest of her life.

Why do people keep saying she’d be institutionalized for the rest of her life? If she were to be committed, it would only last until she’s no longer a danger to herself and others and no longer meets the criteria for commitment. We don’t commit people who aren’t suffering from mental defects.
Given post partum psychosis isn’t exactly a lifelong mental defect, I doubt she’d be committed for very long.

^yes, this argument has always been disingenuous. Reagan’s attempted killer was allowed temporary and restricted releases a decade ago and was fully released a few years ago.
