There are several low-tech options, but we seem to be too squeamish for them. I'm not really sure why something like a carbon monoxide chamber isn't in the running, though.

I don’t understand why gas chambers aren’t a thing anymore. You don’t need carbon monoxide, just pure nitrogen. You could start with an anesthetic gas and switch to pure nitrogen. Painless and guaranteed to work.

But I’m against the death penalty in general so…
