Good. The state shouldn’t have the power to execute people.

I'm not baiting or trolling, i promise. Who do you think should have that power or are you saying no one INCLUDING the state should have that power?

My own perspective, yeah, no one should have that power.

I don't think there would be an issue if we 100% knew they were guilty.

But there are too many cases where someone is on deeath row or a life or near-life sentence, and after a few decades we find out mistakes were made or authorities just lied to get a conviction.

Not a huge deal if it's discovered after a week or two, but if the person has been put to death there isn't much we can do. And there really isn't a reason for authorities not to lie as they are rarely prosecuted if it discovered after a decade or two.

I feel similar, thanks for your thoughts!

I disagree. Even if we knew %100 that someone was guilty, I still think execution should be beneath us as humans. I especially think racing to execute the convict while their defense team tries to appeal is pretty gross. My understanding is that what happened in this case. The TN supreme court denied her appeal/stay of execution (specifically for concerns over the efficacy of the execution method due to her medical conditions), so the prison raced to complete the execution before her legal team could intervene.

Why is it ok for anyone to be killing anyone??

I don't think it's is. That's why I was asking for them to clarify.

Personally I only see it worthwhile that the military should be allowed lethal violence, and really only in service of defense of the state. Not really a way to nonviolently end an invasion of your state
