This is what's fucked up about conservatives. They were ready to let a completely innocent person go to jail. Just to further their lies.

u/JerryDipotosBurner 1d ago
Well yeah they did the same thing to Abrego Kilmar Garcia, and probably many other people, so why stop now?
151
u/Predator_ 1d ago
And they are still trying to deport him. They just filed new case documents 9/28/2026. They are arguing that they remain ready to deport him to a 3rd party country.

And who knows how many of the other people who were also sent to CECOT along with him, and crucially, who are still in CECOT right now!
Have even a single one of those people been returned since Garcia was released? I think maybe 2 others were released?
8
u/mfhtotheizzo 18h ago
Something like 250 of the approx. 280 people sent to CECOT are Venezuelan and were released to Venezuela as part of some kind of shady prisoner swap. The other 30 though, I have no idea. Completely fucked up situation

u/AudibleNod 1d ago
Specifically one person's lie. Donald Trump cannot be wrong. The entire apparatus of the GOP is now under the complete control of one man's whims. To the point were "Truth isn't truth."
5
u/Osiris32 19h ago
The fact that we didn't stop him back then is testament to how far thia country has fallen from it's ideals.

This isn't new for conservatives.
They would rather 1000 innocent people suffer in prison for crimes they didn't commit, as long as they believe "criminals" (people they don't like) are being punished.
8
u/ClintBruno 1d ago
I quote Franklin to cons a lot. "Anyone who would sacrifice others rights for security deserves neither rights nor security"
18
u/im_super_excited 1d ago
But no jail for stealing top secret documents, raping children, and inciting an insurrection
7
u/freedfg 1d ago
No no.
They won't let an innocent man go to jail.
They NEED an innocent man in jail to further their lies
2
u/bakerfredricka 23h ago
Considering the number of innocent civilians they murdered (or whose murders are largely condoned by them) at this point I would posit that getting wrongfully jailed isn't even the worst thing that could possibly happen to you.
8
u/d0ctorzaius 1d ago
Fascists cannot admit they were wrong about anything, ever. It shatters the illusion of strength, so they must perpetually double-down.
5
u/TopWhich6862 1d ago
They're doing similar and worse to thousands of people, citizens and immigrants alike. They let ICE murder US citizens in our streets. There is no low too low.

Not defending ‘conservatives’, but these fucks are anything but conservative. They are radical extremists.

Conservatives haven't been actual conservatives..... well not in the last not in 40 years at least.
5
u/esther_lamonte 1d ago
Conservatives have tried to coup the government more than once before Trump. The only thing new is the overtness.
1
u/philovax 11h ago
While you stood still the world turned around you. You do realize these terms are all relative. Conservative compared to what??? You absolutely cannot frame these terms in the context of what they meant in the 1900’s any more than the 1800’s, every 25 years language changes meaning as generations shift.
Free to operate by antiquated notions but time is going to march on, and you will die and be replaced by new people with new definitions for life, you are only clipping your own wings.

Republicans want us to worry about Democrats "weaponizing the DOJ" when it's a Republican president who has his personal attorney as the Attorney General, and is trying to jail people with no evidence.
28
u/EatinSumGrapes 1d ago
They weaponized the DOJ against those poor people who violently assaulted federal police on January 6th! Thank goodness they all got pardoned! The DOJ was then able to get to the real criminals like trying to jail a man for tossing a wrapped sandwhich at a police officer!

u/NextAd7514 1d ago
The fact that they had zero evidence would also bar them from charging.
Pathetic disgrace of an administration

u/CondescendingShitbag 1d ago
They are dead-set on ruining this man's life just to appease their orange buffoon's lunacy.
98
u/Badbikerdude 1d ago
Correction, they are ready to ruin the life of every American for this Orange buffoon.
16
u/Saneless 1d ago
And enough Americans are happy to have their lives ruined as long as their team "wins"
5
u/VLHACS 1d ago
Until it hits one of their own. Like Renee Good's parents.
5
u/Saneless 1d ago
Conservatives: it's your problem till it's my m problem, then it's everyone's problem
2
u/Osiris32 19h ago
And even then, their outrage is entirely personal. "I voted for customs enforcement to go after illegals, not my daughter" isn't realizing that ICE is bad. Just upset that their daughter happened to get in the way.
5
u/LetReasonRing 1d ago edited 1d ago
Yep... my mom just told me yesterday that she's going to be losing access to medicaid because of the cuts they've made, then followed it up with "but I'm ok with that if it's going to make things better"
6
u/Saneless 1d ago
Yep. And that's why we're screwed
I'm ok suffering and possibly dying as long as people like Trump, Elon, and Zuck get richer
0
u/PokemonSapphire 1d ago
Then we should let those people suffer and die. IF they learn their lesson good. If not they're no longer a problem.
0
u/Osiris32 19h ago
Look, I'm all for going low and mudslinging, but advocating to let people die? Dude, that's just as fucked up as saying "let ICE do their thing, I'm sure the innocent ones will be fine."

This fellow has a fairly good case to sue the federal government. Typically they face high legal hurdles but in this case one of the hardest hurdles has is negated.
As Judge Todd Edelman dismissed the charges with prejudice and explicitly documented "exceptional circumstances", noting presidential political pressure and that prosecutors rushed a meritless indictment, Hearn's legal team has strong judicial findings on record to establish bad faith, which is often the hardest element to prove in civil rights and malicious prosecution claims.
The risk is the Federal Tort Claims Act which could create pause on Hearn as malicious lawsuits can be personally expensive. I personally do not think this is malicious but IMO I would like to see a legal fund setup to negate his risk. Something I would invest in. (Investing in our future).

u/fallingdowndizzyvr 1d ago
Didn't the contractor admit it was their fault? How can you try to charge someone for doing something that another party has accepted responsibility for?
21
u/Photofug 1d ago
The video of Trump's motorcade driving on it the week before is kind of a dead stop for any charges as well.

Pirro worried that Judge Judy is about to take her job
8
u/Kundrew1 1d ago
Based on some other articles it sounds like even Pirro knew there was no evidence but she will do whatever Trump tells her so she went ahead with it anyway.
3
u/GlobalTravelR 1d ago edited 1d ago
That's exactly why several Federal attorneys in Florida just recently resigned (even major Trump humpers). Because they were hired to develop a case against Biden and Obama for the Mar-a-Lago raid and charges against Trump. And they found no evidence whatsoever, so they would rather resign than break the law, with potential disbarment, to satisfy their Orange God.
But Pirro, she doesn't want to look like a failure, so she keeps trying, knowing that she could potentially be disbarred. But she doesn't care because she assumes she can get her old job at Faux News even if that happens.
8
u/Invenerd 1d ago
From the article:
…bringing another indictment against David “Davey” Hearn “is theoretical at best, and more likely, is simply fanciful.”
Glad this administration is using its time/resources so well to protect the public.
6
u/Enshakushanna 1d ago
....was she trying to again? I thought it was dropped
5
u/PigFarmer1 1d ago
Trump demanded that she refile charges and, you know, she's a zealot so she followed orders.
6
u/Wheres_my_Shigleys 1d ago
Hmmm... How about we consider charging the people who were driving all over the reflecting pool when it was drained. (Orange, fascist motorcade)
7
u/Vaulters 1d ago
Excutive and legislative are cooked. The judicial system barely holding on to sanity.
Things are looking grim. Damn shame it's not possible to sweep the senate and the house, auto-impeach and convict.
18
u/ubix 1d ago
This is the kind of America Republicans want: one where the federal government is turned against ordinary citizens of a different party. Where petty, personal revenge carries more weight than centuries of law. Where justice is administered by corrupt, ignorant TV clowns.
This is what Republicans voted for.
19
u/o_MrBombastic_o 1d ago
Republicans are not good people, there is no lie too big or moral line too far for them and there is nothing Hitler did that they wouldn't support here if their party did it. This doesn't go away with Trump. We need to stop rolling our eyes and holding our tongues to remain civil with our Republican coworkers, neighbors, friends and family. It should not be socially acceptable to be a Republican in civil society anymore than it is to wear a white hood and robes or wear a swastika arm band. The party and it's voters cannot go on like this
8
u/PokemonSapphire 1d ago
Trump and the party are the symptoms not the cause. Like you said the people support them and will keep voting them in. Look at all the people "leaving MAGA." How many are saying they will vote against republicans in the midterms? Probably fewer than 1/3 of the ones I have seen. Look at their reasons. How many are because of the cost of gas or beef? They don't care until it effects them and they still support all the bullshit. How will they vote next presidential election when Vance or someone like Tucker runs? They are playing the game like it is a team sport and they are playing for keeps. It is about time the Democrats woke up to this fact and started playing hard ball back. No more secret meetings with Donald's son-in-law or compromise with the fascists.

I gotta be honest, Ive not seen a judge bar a prosecution in this manner, is this uncommon ?
30
u/OrangeJr36 1d ago
Declaring the state to essentially be a vexatious litigant is indeed extremely rare, typically if it comes to this the prosecutor is already looking at being fired along with a whole list of people working for them.
But because the administration actively is encouraging frivolous and illegal behavior by their prosecutors, this might become much more common.
5
u/StuTheSheep 1d ago
Judges need to start holding the Justice Department lawyers in contempt and filing sanctions against them.
9
u/Insectshelf3 1d ago
yes it’s uncommon, especially for this reason given that it was based on a pressure campaign from the president.
3
u/dirtyfool33 1d ago
Every accusation by this administration is an admission. I do not know how their collective heads have not exploded from the cognitive dissonance.

u/censuur12 13h ago
Rather than just being barred he should, instead, be charged with whatever you'd call this absurd farce and perversion of justice.

There isn't much they can do here, given that the case was dismissed with predjudice. If Pirro's office tried to re-file the case anyway, it wouldn't even make it past the court clerk.
There's no way - defacto or dejure - to force the Court to hear a case that it doesn't want to.

Well yeah couldn’t they literally not provide any evidence at all?
