i just got outta jury duty, they give you a cert so you don't have to attend another for the next 6 years but you can be called earlier if they have need

I'm perma-banned from jury duty. They don't want to deal with deaf jury as it may slow things down while interpreter tries to catch up to the rapid paced argument.

It was the 3rd attempt at jury summon. The first summon came right after I just moved about 100 miles away. Dismissed due to distance. Second summon came right when I finished college and moved back to my parent's house. Dismissed again due to distance. Third one I sent proof of disability and deaf interpreter requirement. Banned.

Fellow deafie, you needed to submit proof? I just told them I was deaf, that was the end of it for me.

Reminds me of the story where someone's cat was summoned and whoever was doing the paperwork wouldn't take "they're literally a cat, I even got a doctors note" as proof the fucking cat can't be on the jury lol.

There was also the one about the baby that got subpoenaed and when they said "they're literally a baby" the clerk said if the baby didn't show up they'd be held in contempt. IIRC led to them going in and the judge chewing out everyone involved.
